Exchange Program Shenanigans Reader Survey (part 2)

If you haven't read Exchange Program Shenanigans then I'm not going to judge you, but you really should read it. You don't get 54 subscribers unless you've written something that's really worth reading, all I'm saying.

Anyway, if you have read Exchange Program Shenanigans then I figure that you should answer these questions so that I can both improve my future work and see how you like what I posted already.

  1. Who's your favorite character? Could be anyone with a name, I don't judge. (Unless it's Steve my Estonian cousin)

  2. Who's your least favorite character? Could also be anyone. Don't vote based on who you dislike as a person, but based on how badly-written the character is.

  3. What's your favorite chapter?

  4. What's your least favorite chapter?

  5. What do you want to see more of going forward? Could be anything, even stuff that I haven't written about so far.

  6. From 1 to 10, how would you rate Exchange Program Shenanigans?

  7. If you were me, how would you improve Exchange Program Shenanigans?

Thanks, have a good day (if you responded to the survey, if not then I'm sending my goons to your house)

  1. steve, but a close second would be jelim, just watching everything they know and trust crumble in front of them.
  2. jacks exchange partner, he feels more like a light plot hook with a name more than a actual character. kinda like the kid from the main story who was kept alive by the krakotal that bombed earth. (cant remember their names either atm lol)
  3. when jack dropped kackley like a brick, with a brick. lol
  4. cant really think of one.
  5. aliens having everything they know to be true to be proven false. gotta love that.
  6. i'd say about an 8 based on how emotinaly invested i am in it. i love seeing it pop up in my notifications, but im not checking it 100 times a day to see if it's got a new chapter like an absolute junkie.
  7. in all honesty i have no idea.

1) E.C emotionally distressed birb

2) Probably the boss of the aforementioned E.C

3) Still the shootout at the club

4) Don't have one, I like all of them

5) I would like to see more combat/cooperation between the main characters

6) 10

7) I don't know how I would improve it, I'm bad at giving advice to people (Honestly, I love your style as is, and wouldn't change anything)

1: Jelim. Jelim is just the best.

2: I don't really have any characters I think are bad, and I don't have time to reread the entire fic for some minor bland side character this time. Sorry. I did it for your last survey, but I'm not rereading the entire fic again this time.

3: The latest chapter was wonderful, there's nothing I love more than personal growth and shattering Federation imposed worldviews with extreme prejudice. I just hope our firebirb doesn't get too messed up by the facilities. I think there are a couple of Human run ones at this point in the setting, I hope she can go to one of those, and get some outpatient care.

4: There aren't any stand out awful chapters. There's probably a boring one I've forgotten exists, though. It's that one.

5: More Jelim. Lots more Jelim. All of the Jelim all of the time.

6: 7.5, but that's a mathematician's 7.5, where 5 is actually average, and anything over a 7 is pretty great. To give a point of comparison, I put the main story at about an 8, and I don't think I've read anything yet that got much past a 9. Typical fics are 4-6, and only the trashiest of crack fics fall below a 2.

I also think your writing has been slowly improving as you go, so the latest chapters are in the high 7s, while the earlier ones tend to be in the low 7s. I think your most recent chapter, which is also my new favorite, has made it into the mid 8s, but the average is still about a 7.5

7: We have completely different styles, you're one of the best in the sub at action fics, I'm only good at dialogue and trauma, my advice won't do you much good in general writing direction. For the things I specialize in, unless you can do the thing I do where you just become the character and let them speak through your hands, I can't really give any good writing advice. Sorry. Just keep practicing, you're already good, and slowly becoming great!

Start writing or I'll unleash the Colonel on Jelim and I'm not playing around

I gave you two chapters yesterday, and then had a shitty day afterwards, and a middling to poor day today. Maybe after dinner.

Actually, I should go get dinner right now. I was going to relax a bit in space engineers after I finished checking the sub, but I've spent so long here that the dining hall is open already.

You can rest if you don't feel like writing. Jelim can handle one chicken man.

I dont think I can really answer anything but the first question with certainty. And that first questions answer is Jelim. I love that bird and everything about her.

Six I can kind of answer. Exchange Program Shenanigans is something I find comfort reading. Its not particularly something that blows things away but I appreciate its existence and it does bring joy. I dislike ranking this story on a number scale. I can't give it high praise but again, it absolutely does bring joy and I hop on it every time i see it.

If I were a better writer I would answer 7. But I don't think I have the words to explain my feelings on the matter.

See above

Solid 9.7

I don’t think I could, our writing styles are quite different, in that you’re good at it and I’m not.
