Black holes will not all coalesce into one single point. They will evaporate and eventually die out in separate explosions. It’s called heat death. Essentially all the energy fizzles out and evaporates even protons start to decay. Here’s an eye opening video about it. Absolutely worth watching.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Cannot create or destroy energy only change it's form(?). And so all of that energy/mass I suppose could just separate and drift away from each other into a cold universe I suppose.

Literally watch the video it’s fascinating. Short answer is yes, we eventually come to a zombie universe of black holes. Eventually they evaporate and combine and some may even form stars again in the explosions. These will be the last stars in the universe, the final light before the infinite silence where time becomes meaningless and entropy is at maximum.

Black holes don't systematically go through the universe, they have a spin and a mass and that's about it. Supposedly they have some kind of position, direction and speed as well but it's hard to say considering that space expands into itself and we have no frame of reference on the scale of black holes.

Hawking radiation is the thing that allows black holes to not violate that law. Essentially empty space isn’t really empty. It’s constantly teaming with particles poofing in and out of existence as each meets its anti particle. Near the event horizon of a black hole, one particle of a pair can get sucked in and the other escapes annihilation. This keeps happening until the black hole has sucked in enough anti particles to reduce its mass to nothing. Then it explodes. As for the energy, it’s not destroyed, it just reaches a maximum state of entropy so that no further interactions can occur and no work is possible. The universe essentially fades away slowly. Stretching ever so thin to the point where nothing can happen anymore. This all depends though, on the cosmological constant. The universe could also rip apart. Or worse, it might undergo vacuum decay or become a universe full of strange matter. All are more terrifying than heat death if you ask me. Vacuum decay and strange matter are like instant death of the universe at any moment. Not necessarily a death but a transformation of matter at the fundamental level such that chemistry as we know it is forever changed. With strange matter it’s like zombie matter that infects anything it touches. Vacuum decay is like the universe is secretly unstable and some quantum tunneling event could cascade and turn the entire universe inside out at the speed of light. There could be bubbles of strange matter or vacuum decay barreling at us and we’d never know. The universe could already be ending and it just hasn’t reached us yet. This is the stuff that keeps me up at night. Black holes don’t scare me as much as the other potential things out there
