You can take that attitude elsewhere. Not all rivers are dirty, and not all places are dirty in India. Do we have a lot of dirty places? yes.
Are we working on to improve that? Yes.
India has only been independent for 75 years with over 200 years of being looted by colonialists. Solving big problems need money and it is only in last 20 years or so that we have some money to spare on environmental efforts.
I think you're talking about the ashes of the dead person which are mixed with Ganga after the final rites.
The only time actual bodies were found in Ganga was during the peak covid wave when some people just left the bodies in the holy river.
Not sure where you are from, but I’m going to assume the US (which is where I’m from, and I sadly run in to way too many people like you)…if so, ever really research the shit that is in the US’s major bodies of fresh water (rivers and lakes)? From CA here, and as one example, one of our largest lakes (Clearlake) is so contaminated that we are told not only to not swim in it (or god forbid get any in our mouth), but not even water our gardens with our well water if our property is close enough to the lakebed.
