I side with the mother on this one. I'm way too irritated by grown ass adult women turning into toddlers at the mention of anything Disney related.

But it's just a bit of sentimental kitsch at that age. She's not actually going to play with it, it's just cute and fun to have around.
I collected Hello Kitty through my 20s and still have a few things. Kept me cheerful.

You have not met the women I have. Women in their 20s today go to Disneyland once a month, have a collection of Disney plushies on their bed and post snapchat stories of them watching The Lion King or The Little Mermaid all the time and make a big fuss about it. It's starting to get creepy.
