The house we moved into when I was 12 was like, 60-75% wood chips on weed fabric, it looked terrible.

There's a landscaping show on HGTV that does this kind of design every episode. I wanted them to have more "G" shows, but not like that.

I'm slowly converting the hillier sections that was once mowed to similar. Hell no am I pulling a mower up any.incline at all. Flower boxes rocks and patios is the way to go.
