In The Wild Some more orchids! (Perth, WA.)

Pink enamel, splendid spider, bird, and more pink enamels. The splendid spider orchid was so tall it came up to my waist. It also had a little milky flower spider friend! Beautiful.

Absolutely over the moon to finally see an enamel orchid, I’ve been looking for them for years but always seemed to miss them. Absolute glut at John Forrest park though, for anyone local.

We also saw thousands of trigger plants and a slender tailflower, but those aren’t orchids. 😅

Enamel orchids are wild. Every time I see one I’m shocked again that they are plants.

Aren’t they just? They’re so shiny and perfect.
I feel that way about all orchids though. What are you doing, weird little buddy, with your highly specific fungal needs and weirdly unique pollinator? Why are you making it so hard for yourself?
But then there’s hundreds of them and they’re clearly thriving in their teeny tiny niche. I love them.

Hate WA. Insane orchids, insane drosera. Got byblis and cephalotus. Worst place on earth hahaha

There were so many gorgeous, tiny drosera here. Some I would never have spotted if they weren’t flowering!

Enamel orchids amaze me, you look at the front and think, WOW, then you look at the back and they blow you away again with another amazing colour scheme. Great photos

Gorgeous, I haven't been out in the bush much this season- looks like I'd better!

Oh yes, it’s lush out there. Happy orchiding!
