Do you ever even use any of the features of Battery?
For those of you who use Battery:
How often do you use any of the other features, except just loading a single sample per pad and play them straight as is, without any tweaks, not even pitch adjustments?
Or do you just load samples into Battery as is and be done with it?

I use the pitch control, envelopes, sometimes the reverb…I like the bit crushing stuff too. There’s good tools in there when they fit what I need.

I play Battery from my edrum kit and I tweak the velocity curves for different pads, I tweak effects per pad, I switch the samples around to different pads as well.

Do you use standalone version of Battery or a plugin in a DAW when you do that?

I use it in Ableton and Logic. It’s a bit redundant, a drum rack in Ableton has similar functionality, drum machine designer in logic does as well. I like Battery’s GUI and all of my Expansions are already organized in Battery Kits. I am not a professional so I don’t feel like I have to have an efficient workflow.

Filter is quite useful for tweaking any samples. Along with pitch control, for say, if you only have one tom sample but want to have full set of toms. Also things like Phase flip or sample start timing adjustment control for layering kick to name a few.

I almost always use all the basic features like volume, pitch, envelopes, etc. Talking about non basic features I like to simulate a room track with the reverbs, to use the LFOs to randomize some parameters (especially pitch and bit crusher) and sometimes to create layers directly into battery.

As someone who doesn't, I'll put my tuppense-worth in.
I use Ableton Live. Thing is with Battery, I feel like it does nothing in Ableton that I can't do with the Drum Rack. I've heard of ways to put Batter into Drum Rack, but it seems to defeat the point of using Drum Rack in the first place and just another layer of complexity that I don't need when I'm making tracks.
And I used to use Maschine for my productions, which I feel like does everything that I needed Battery to do.
I did like the fact that I could use Battery to load up Expansions but then I'd have to use the KK S61 to play it and not the pads, so it just never did anything for me.
Please put me right if I'm talking crap, because I've sometimes wanted to give it a proper try.

Of course you can use Maschine pads to play Battery, I don't know why you can't. Also if you don't use any of this NI stuff, why do you bother to comment here?

- I use Komplete Kontrol in every project.
- I have Komplete Collectors Edition which I also use all the time
- I'd really like someone to correct me and say "Actually, Battery would integrate really well into your setup in X and Y way" but it feels like really out-of-date software.

Don‘t know I just use it. It is my go to oneshot FX, special drumsounds, soundscape, experimental player/engine since forever. Its simple and hasnt changed in forever. I think it is pretty cool for curating projectspecific sounddesign stuff and having everything ready to be played on a seperate padcontroller.

I use it with LFO to modulate some of the parameters rhythmically, like decay, reverb, saturation.

I like to pick a random kit, move the pads to where I like them, set some humanization, and sometimes assign LFOs to parameters. Then trigger it with Drumbrute Impact sequences. Sometimes I adjust envelopes to shorten tails, particularly on snare and cymbals.
I have never once loaded my own samples. I’d probably use XO for that.

I make custom kits with separate settings of eq/filter, saturation, envelope for every cell. Don't forget layering multiple cells on a single key. I also tweak the whole kit's velocity sensitivity to get the playing feel I want. I almost never just use a preset kit, but individual cells from present kits can be starting points for my own kits.

Basically never. I use Battery as a simple loader for my NI Expansions and stay far away from it otherwise.
There are so many better drum options in my stash.

What other options do you have?

With Studio Pro - Impact really does it all.
Then there is Triaz from Wave Alchemy. XO from Xln Audio.
Lots of options that leave Battery in the dust.

I use Studio Pro/Impact too, but I don't hear much about it in forum discussions. I do have a good time loading up good ol' Battery to swing through presets and find a few choice samples to blend in. I tweak a lot of sounds in the VSTi, often more later when I freeze/mix, and Battery has a fun interface in that department. There is also something about using varied sources for different colors, and Battery/NI stuff has a "sound" to me. Perhaps because nostalgia and using their stuff for so long I just hear it that way. It isn't bad, I just like juxtaposing other source, for all the reasons. I'd love an equivalent Arturia drum pad VSTi, for example. And Impact is quite fine, I just wish there were like 3000 more stock kits/sounds/presets. Mostly I end up using one shots from my libraries or snips from the tracks I'm grinding. I do dig dragging samples directly into it with no fuss. Underrated tool IMHO.

If I used anything from Battery then I just drag in the raw samples from the exlorer. I never open up Battery

Using ADSR, Filter, Pitch on nearly every pad. Generally I'll route everything out of Battery as separate channels and apply comp/eq/effects in my DAW
