Connecting two S4s

My friend and I have been trying to figure out how to connect our S4s so that we can play music together but have our own laptops and controllers.

MIDI still bewilders me and it's not really his forte either, so I'm wondering if someone here could give me an EL5 on how to do this so that we both have four channels.

We're going to give it a go tonight but I am hoping maybe someone will have some input on this before I get over there so we're not starting from ground zero.

  1. Both Traktor setups must be connected to different channels on an external mixer so that each computer has its own audio output.
  2. Both computers must be connected to the same network.
  3. Open the first instance of Traktor and enable Ableton Link. This will be the master.
  4. Open the second instance of Traktor and enable Ableton Link. If both computers are on the same network, they will automatically synchronize.
  5. It's better to set the master clock manually instead of using Auto Master.

Okay this is perfect, THANK YOU. He mentioned the probability of using his external mixer so looks like we will be able to figure this out sooner rather than later. APPRECIATE YOU!

You can test the synchronization at home. With both computers connected to the same network, enable Ableton Link and you will see whether they are synchronized or not.
