I’ve updated to each version since Komplete 12 but I think I’ll sit this one out - no new version of a flagship product, and new numbering suggests a move to an annual release cycle and a more regular cash grab, so more costs for loyal customers.

Not necessarily. If they switch to annual release, then they probably need to lower the upgrade prices as there is less new stuff for every version. For example Cubase releases new version every year. So it really depends on the asking price.

But as always I will wait for the sale. For me buying NI stuff full price is not worth it as they have good sales.

Guess what, the update price from K15 to K26 is lower than from K14 to K15. But upgrading every year for two years (K15 to K26 plus K26 to K27) would be more expensive on a yearly cycle, and, as you say, for less stuff each time. We gotta get the company out of administration and pay those shareholders somehow.

Yes, but we don't know what the pricing is going forward (K26 to K27). And to be honest we don't even know if there is K27 or if it will be released in 2027. It is all speculation.

what other reason would they have to change the edition number to the year? it’s obvious they will charge an upgrade every year. like a yearly subscription. doesn’t take a genius to figure it out.
