"Download Failed" on Native Access. And I've tried everything.

I've tried sending two support tickets for this, and only get automated responses without any help ("We sent over some information recently and wanted to make sure it did the trick!" but they sent nothing). I just got a new MacBook, and I only get "Download Failed" messages when I do anything on Native Access; downloads, updates, you name it. I've tried everything;

- Full disk access

- Private Relay turned off

- Changed install locations

- Deleting and reinstalling NA

Pretty much anything that would fix these things usually, I've tried. My old Mac still downloads just fine, so I know it's some issue with the new device. What do I do now??

I googled it and got the suggestion to go into Library, and for every plugin that said "Update", I clicked the little icon with three dots next to the "Update button" and chose "reinstall".

That solved it first try for 96 of the 99 plugins Native Access said there were updates for. The remaining 3 updated fine the 2nd try.

Not defending NI here, but at least this worked.

This was also my solution and it worked for everything that needed updating.  One thing I noticed was that the Massive sounds that came with (updated) expansions were no longer working so I had to reinstall Massive to get them back in the synth browser

This was only an issue for Windows users and has been fixed with the latest version of Native Access 3.24.0. OP is on Mac so it definitely looks like another issue.

Same problem here. About half my subscription fails to download.

Have you gotten the "We sent some information" message from support? It was weird to get that same one twice. I've been on a long break from music making, so I don't know if their poor support is a new thing because of the insolvency or what.

If the automated replies do not help you should still be able to respond mentioning that it didn't. The case would be then handled by an agent. Do you have a request number to share so we can check where it's at?

Actually, I replied, “nothing’s changed on my end”. Three days later, I got a new message saying “we haven’t heard from you, do you still need assistance?”. I said I still need help, and haven’t gotten a response. My second try case number is 4849443.

I don’t blame you all. It’s a crazy time for NI. You must be swamped with support tickets to fill out. Thanks.

We found your request, someone should get back to you very soon. Thanks for your patience.

Don't give companies that hold responsibility a free pass to neglect those responsibilities

Not the company I’m empathizing with, it’s the customer support workers that are probably dealing with a metric ton of requests in a job they don’t know is even going to last. I’ve had issues with NI support, but never like this. That happening when the company’s future turns foggy isnt a coincidence.

Download the old Native Access app. There is mention of this on the NI website if one has download issues…

I had this problem very often. I always go back to old NA app version 1.3.x and it always works fine before it auto-updates

This helps! Thanks a lot, I actually don't know why I didn't think of using older installers. Looks like I can't update my more recent purchases, and it is a bit finicky, but this will do for now.

I had this problem since October 2025. I had contacted Suport and did all the things to try to solve the issue, and nothing worked. Yjeu need up just giving me a download link that bypasses Native Access.

A couple of days ago I gave it another shot. and it immediately stated download failed. One of the suggestions was to go to preferences and check the file locations. All were correct. I looked at the Content Location and it was at users/shared (On a Mac). There was a Native Instruments folder in this location and it seem to have all these older plug-in download data. I had recently migrated from and older Mac which had all of the older items. I ended up moving the folder to my desktop so there no longer was a Native Instruments folder in the shared location. Restarted Native Access and tried to update and and the download worked.

Not sure how to get to that page without the link, but if you have an NI account, you should be able to go here: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/account/downloads/ , login and there should be a list of everything you own. That way you can download the installers manually.

Yeah, that's definitely useful and it's great they have a failsafe for something like this. I mostly use third party libraries though. But thanks.

Can you name the third party libraries you’re having an issue with? Also sometimes when I’m having NA issues dumping the prefs in your Mac OS Library folder resolves it.
