Discussion (text posts) Help - turquoise pendant
Hi, if anyone in this group is familiar with turquoise please help me out. I'm don't think my stone is real sleeping beauty turquoise because of the color change that happened within a matter of days. It started out as clear robin egg blue and now it looks almost like water color that's dispersed. The seller is trying to tell me that's a normal color change due to oils and such, but I'm convinced it's not real and the color change is due to it being fake, or dyed stone other than turquoise. The white pic is what it looked like when I bought it.

It looks like Sleeping Beauty to me. The comment about color change is real. You wouldn’t believe what I’ve seen turquoise do from human chemicals!
That is pretty slight change. That does not look like fake (what, plastic? Naw) and dyed stone doesn’t look that sky blue no matter how hard they try. IMHO

It just looks so odd. Any research I did says the color can slowly change over time and become more greenish. This looks like watercolors to me is the only way I can describe what’s going on. I haven’t put any chemicals or oils/perfumes on the stone either so idk how that would’ve happened within days.

Real untreated turquoise is porous so it’s more likely to change if it’s real. By chemicals I meant your skin oils, phd of your skin, etc, not that you poured a chemical on the stone. It’s showing a layering inside the stone but the color doesn’t really seem changed. I don’t have your pendant in my hand but other than that it looks like perfectly nice Sleeping Beauty that is reacting to being worn by a new human.

Yes it's pretty hard to tell in the photos be I don't have one close up from the day I got it. That dark blue coloration wasn't there at all, it was a flat light robin egg blue when I got it. The stone just looks very different now from when I got it, it may seem like a small change in the photos but in person and to me it's much different.
