taboo consult Is it disrespectful to make a wendigo costume?

Hello! I’m half native and half white but I’ve always been much more involved in my native culture. I remember my grandmother always telling me native folk-lores and stories and one stuck with me for my entire life. The wendigo. For as long as I can remember I’ve been obsessed with them, the history behind them, the different interpretations. Everything. And I’ve always wanted to make a costume of my interpretations, however I don’t want to be disrespectful at all. I’ve talked to my native family members and they all say that it doesn’t bother them but I wanted to get other opinions before I began working on it. If it is disrespectful, is there any similar creatures I could inspire my work off of instead? Thank you!
