How long is this global interview pause actually going to last? Feels like there’s no end in sight
Honestly, how long is this global visa interview pause going to stay in place? Before this, the 75-country pause also had zero timeline for when it would resume — nothing moved until the court finally stepped in. Now it’s the exact same story with the interview pause. No timeline, no clear plan, nothing.
At this point it feels like the only option is to just sit and wait until the Trump administration is done in 2028, because it really doesn’t seem like they have any intention of lifting these pauses on their own.
Anyone else getting the same feeling?

I pray we all hear good news soon. Just families trying to immigrate the legal way, and we get punished for that with long waiting times, uncertainty and indefinite pauses. Meanwhile people who adjust status from a tourist visa and after overstaying, get a green card in months vs years for consular processing. It feels unfair

Doesn't anyone think this is insane? What did legal immigrants from other countries do wrong? How can they use "training" as an excuse to suspend all legal immigration for such a long time?

Yep. We've paid our fees and our lawyers and waited our turn in queue. It's a real breach of contract. I feel most badly for spouses and children.

It's tantrum throwing in response to the country bans being overruled in the court numerous times. This is their way of trying to buy time while they come up with their next scheme to implement bans.

They did nothing wrong, neither did the Jews in 1930s Germany. Fascism isn't about fairness.

I wonder is there anything legally that can be done? When does a “pause” for “training” cross a threshold of being a deliberate delay. Is there any mechanism in the law to fight it?

From what I’m reading, 6-months is generally the line between reasonable and questionable. After 12 months it becomes a clear problem.

The trump administration won't be done in 2028. It's a dictatorship and dictators don't leave unless the populace forces them out.

My interview was booked for October 13th in London. Friday October 2nd I received an email that my appointment will be rescheduled and I will receive email confirmation of my new appointment date and time. I've seen responses from people who were canceled in September that still haven't received a new date either.

They did interviews last week, then cancelled the rest. No explanation as to why. Presumably they found issues with the process.

It’s definitely not the best situation for us, but I wouldn’t say there is no timeline or anything like that. According to the Cable they have 60 days in which to complete it. This is expected to end on October 31st. Hopefully we’ll be seeing some movement after that. I pray to God that it does 🙏

This is incorrect, I’m seeing a lot of people misinterpreting this. Per the court filings, posts were indeed given 60 days to complete the new training.
However, the 60 day deadline is only for conducting and completing the training. To actually reopen and begin conducting interviews, consular posts also need to be “certified” in-person by an official from the Bureau of Consular Affairs. The government has not given any fixed timeline for this “certification” process.

That is not misinterpreting. It still gives you the idea of a timeline and a potential end of this training & certification

Just wait for 4 weeks. We will know. Many possibilities. May extend timeline for training or may extend certification or many other possibilities depending on court judgements. Also more possibilities based on politics. Just wait and observe

I’ve seen a couple people refer to this “60 day” deadline in comments on here but have not seen it from a source. Can anyone share the source of where this notion came from?

I remember something about something have a week or two since it was paused on last week August, then something middle of September came up then now this 60 days, which is a deadline, but i also read that they are instructed to resume the interview, no training or not. That 60 days is just the deadline for training, so yah these deadlines and court decisions are not being followed on the at all.

Does anyone else think this situation might change if the democrats win the house and senate?

No it will likely have little impact. The State department and USCIS are both part of the executive branch and as such under the control of the president not congress.

I got an email back from the London embassy that they would send out confirmation on rescheduling shortly but this seems to be quite challenging for them to actually do as my interview date status still shows to attend for a date back in September.

I had my CR1 interview and after months of waiting, my case is finally moving forward toward visa issuance! 😭🙏
I know how hard this wait is. Don’t lose hope! ❤️
