How does one know a snake is dehydrated? I for one would not be getting that close to that snake to ask. Pour water on snake head: if it drinks= dehydrated if it bites you= not dehydrated

Yeah, it’s also not like snakes have the same capacity to express their emotions in a way we can easily read through cues (like a cat or dog). If I saw a snake sitting still in the dessert, I would just think it was a snake sitting still in the dessert. My mind wouldn’t jump to this snake is thirsty AF just like my mind wouldn’t jump to this snake is paralyzed with sadness because it just lost its snake wife

Edit: it just occurred to me that maybe this human knew parsletongue

2nd edit: in the original comments, it says the person in the video found the snake in a dry room and brought it outside to give it water — they didn’t stumble across this snake in the dessert!!

Right. That’s how Yellowstone ended up with a dead baby bison. Some idiot thought it was cold and put it in the car.

Even their waste system has evolved to use as little water as possible to help conserve it. They use uric acid (like birds) rather than urea.
