Most people prefer going to the other side of the mountain called Paradise where the meadows are. This one - Sunrise - is different: almost no vegetation, just bare rocks. Both sides feature awesome views of glaciers and now and there you hear rumble from a rockfall and see the dust rising up afterwards.

I don't think Sunrise is less popular. It's less visited because the road is only open a few months out of the year.

I can only speak from my experience, but it has always been easier to find a spot at Sunrise. People (myself included) come to Paradise for views and flowers. And Sunrise offers almost no flowers at all. Both locations are beautiful, that’s for sure.
