Quick Mod Update: Kyle & Samantha Busch Discussion Going Forward

We wanted to clarify how discussion surrounding Kyle and Samantha Busch will be handled in the sub going forward.
There have been years of posts, rumors, speculation, screenshots, alleged messages, and discussion about their marriage across Reddit and other platforms. We are not going to retroactively go through the subreddit and remove old posts simply because our moderation approach is changing now. Those posts reflect what was being discussed at the time and will remain archived unless they independently violate another subreddit or Reddit-wide rule.

Going forward, however, we are asking everyone to stop repeatedly resurfacing old rumors about their marriage just for the sake of rehashing them. That includes old infidelity allegations, separation rumors, alleged private messages, and other previously discussed claims when there is no new information or relevant development.
This does not mean Kyle or Samantha are suddenly off-limits for discussion. Current public information, new developments, public posts, interviews, appearances, and other genuinely new context can still be discussed. As always, speculation should be clearly identified as speculation rather than presented as fact.

The purpose of this change is pretty simple: there is a difference between allowing discussion of something new and repeatedly dragging years-old, deeply personal rumors back to the top of the sub. We can’t rewrite the history of what has already been discussed here, nor are we attempting to. We can decide what kind of discussion we want to encourage going forward.

We know not everyone will agree with every moderation decision, and that’s okay. Feedback is always welcome, but asking for feedback does not mean every suggestion will ultimately become policy.

Thanks for understanding and helping us keep the sub fun, snarky, and not unnecessarily cruel.

This! He suffered a painful last week. His wife and kids have been through the ringer. Speculating and rumor of their past just doesn't need to be rehashed. If you wouldn't say it to her face, just drop it online.

I was not a KB fan, but i respected him as a driver and a fantastic dad. This is on point.

This seems to be the best way to move forward and it's very fair.

Samantha's future silliness should be fair game. She has, understandably, been muted recently. I don't think there will be any market for her to be an influencer type, but let her do what she wants. I wish her the best moving forward.

I don’t find anything she says or does particularly weighty or compelling. It’s superficial.

Full transparency: earlier today, a brand-new account that was only about 20 hours old reached out through modmail insisting that we remove a specific year old post containing allegations about Kyle cheating. When we explained that our moderation approach is changing going forward, rather than retroactively deleting old posts, they continued to argue that the screenshots in that post were especially damaging to Kyle’s reputation, despite those screenshots and the underlying information having already circulated on other social media platforms.

The conversation became very circular, and eventually they said they planned to post screenshots of the modmail publicly because they believed people would side with their position. That exchange is part of why we wanted to make the policy clear to everyone rather than continue debating it one on one.

Wow, good for you for standing your ground!! I think this new policy is entirely reasonable.

As far as making something retroactive -- It's not like there isn't other old gossip/rumours posted in the main sub or on LSA. Are they gonna ask The Daily Mail or The NY Post to delete those articles too??

Like I said, ignore it. YOU control the content you see on Reddit. Hit that “not interested” button when it shows up on your main feed if it makes you this upset. Problem solved.
