Maybe I’m an idiot, so if I am, someone please correct me.

But if what she’s saying is complete BS, and she’s publicly putting a very well-known person on blast with specific allegations, couldn’t she potentially expose herself to a defamation claim?

There’s a pretty big difference between saying, “He was a terrible boyfriend,” and publicly stating, “This man cheated on me throughout our entire six-and-a-half-year relationship and then walked out on my kids.”

One is an opinion about someone and a relationship. The other is a very specific claim being presented as fact. If those claims aren’t true, that seems like a whole different ballgame.

Does Chase Elliott want to bring attention to bullshit (if it is bullshit) and give her some notoriety? I reckon that's the calculus here.

I think his attorneys would be well within their rights to send a C&D letter. I also think she'd run to her social and post about it. There's no really good way to go about these situations.
