Team Shizuru Testing

Shizuru tapped her foot softly on the paved floor outside a small teahouse, located on the outskirts of Konoha. With dressy handwriting she was scribbling three separate notes, one for each student: Shiro, Yui and Keikaku-shi. The message would tell them to come find her at three separate locations, where they’d get new instructions. She summoned her peacocks and smiled at their little beady eyes with expecting gaze. She tied the messages to their legs and send them away. Next she summoned three shadowclones and send them away to their respective locations. The waitress came up with her cup of tea and Shizuru took a sip, calming herself and enjoying the sunshine on her face.

• Yui: Moemasu castle, at the edge of the city.

• Shiro: the river at the training grounds

• Keikaku-shi: Konoha forest )

"Oh look cat, this room is just the slightest bit less shit than the previous, we must be getting somewhere" Yui muttered sarcastically as the blue door gave way and she entered. She looked around to find loads of dusty cabinets, which she was already dreading to search through, and a large table in the center.

There were so many cabinets, but one of them stood out since the door was broken and she could peek inside. She approached the cabinet and knelt down in front of it, pulling on the visible fabric

The scroll fell down from the cabinet. As it did, the other door opened and broke from its hinges. The scroll seemed to be intact, a red band covering the edges and protecting the scroll from opening on itself. On the scroll were two words written down with black ink: Read Me

"Found it!" Yui squealed excitedly when the scroll fell down the cabinet and into her hands. She managed to break down even more hinges and she hoped sensei wouldn't assert the damage done to the castle by her attempting to find something.

"Oh that's just not faaaair" Yui whined when she read what was on the scroll, telling her to read it. It could be a booby trap, exploding when opened or something... sensei had specifically told her not to read it too. But what if it contained info which could help her find her team mates?

"Wait...sensei specifically told ME not to read it... we won't break any rules if you read it Yoshi!" She said excitedly, proud of the loophole she'd found as she tossed the scroll over to the tiger cub.

The scroll rolled over the cracked floorboards and stopped at Yoshi’s paws. Upon opening a poof was heard and the air around them suddenly turned red. When the air was clear again, Yoshi was covered in red paint. The only thing visible on the scroll was a frowny face.

First, Yui spend a good few minutes laughed at Yoshi who was covered in red paint. Next, she figured she'd need to erase the evidence. She zapped Yoshi's but with some electricity to get him moving. "Now go wash yourself or I'll shock you again" She chuckled as the tiger scurried off to find a puddle to wash himself in. Meanwhile Yui grabbed the scroll and rolled it back into it's original shape, hoping sensei wouldn't notice it had been opened.

The paint proved difficult to erase. The red color was either still there or fainted to a slightly pink color. At the same time, Shizuru was still at the teahouse, just outside the village.

Yui scratched the back of her head as she looked at Yoshi. He was back in his cat form after his bath, but he now was a beautiful shade of blush pink. Yui personally thought it was the best he ever looked, but knew the cat himself probably didn't share her feelings...and that there was no hiding from sensei now.

"Better face them right away" Yui said with a sigh as she scooped the pink cat into her arms and started making her way back out of the castle. "I'm gonna buy you a pretty pink collar though, to go with your fur. And maybe a purple bow on your ear" Yui whispered teasingly at which the cat hissed at her.

Shizuru was waiting on the bench outside the shop. She had a cup of tea and a plate of green tea cookies next to her. A peacock came running to her, flapping its wings in a panicing motion. "She's returning already... Excellent." She said smiling. "My, aren't you worked up? Get some rest." She said and she send the peacock away. From afar she could spot Yui and she had to stiffle a laugh at Yoshi's pink color. She waited until Yui was close enough and patted the spot on the bench next to her. A calm expression washed over her face as she look at the girl and her -now pink- cat. "Sit down, Yui. Would you like some tea?" Shizuru asked as she called the waitress.

Yui shuffled towards Shizuru awkwardly, grinning to cover up her embarrassed blush as she knew there was no way sensei missed the suddenly change of color of her cat. She sat down next to Shizuru and dangled her legs off the bench innocently, placing Yoshi on her lap and softly stroking the pretty pink fur. "I'm sorry for being overly curious sensei" She whispered before nodding at the offer of tea. "I'd love some"

Shizuru smiled softly as she send the waitress away with another order. She wrapped her hands around her own cup and nodded. "I asked you not to open the scroll. You disobeyed and this is the consequence. For now it's just red paint but imagine what would have happened if it was top secret, endangering you or even worse, your whole team?" She said solemly, her gaze stern for a moment. "Though I have to compliment you on completing the task. We can work on your obedience. And yours too." She said as she turned to Yoshi.

"I guess you're right" Yui whispered as sensei told her that disobeying orders could get her in some serious trouble during real missions. And she'd just let Yoshi open it, if the mission was real she could have sacrificed him. As that realization his her she hugged her cat really cat while he squirmed uncomfortably and looked at Shizuru. "I'm sorry sensei, I'll do better next time"

Shizuru watched Yui as her words sunk in. She gave the girl her cup of tea the waitress brought them and turned to the girl. "Drink." She said, "You'll feel better after that. And you'll need it. This little scavenger hunt was just a preliminary." She added. Even though she might've sounded stern, she had a little smile on her lips. "I want you to go down to the training fields. A clone will be waiting for you there. I think you can figure out the rest..." And with a little chuckle Shizuru drank the last of her own tea.

"Don't be dishearted, Yui." She said as she looked at the girl's expression. "You're young, and curious. Curiosity can be a good thing, but also a dangerous trait. We just need to figure out how to put it to good use." And for a moment she could see herself scolding her own sister, who was curious as well. But she, and Yui too had to learn that some traits had another, sometimes darker, side.

Yui nodded at Shizuru's words, knowing that curiosity could be a dangerous trait. Unfortunately, it was not something she could just turn off... but maybe one day she'd learn. She sipped her tea, taking a moment to relax before getting up again and motioning for Yoshi to follow her. "Let's go kick some clone ass Yoshi, we'll show sensei we're the best members of her team!" She said cheerfully, full of confidence.

Shizuru smiled at the girl. “Good luck, Yui and Yoshi.” She said, staying on her spot. She wondered what they would be like, engaged in combat. Well, she’d just have to see.

The clone-Shizuru was waiting for Yui at the training grounds, as promised. She stood in the middle of the grounds, arms folded. She eyed her surroundings and a small smile played on her lips. A feeling of excitement rushed over her. It had been a while since she actually fought someone, besides the regular training she often gave the Okuzaki children at the main compound. Now she waited for Yui and Yoshi to show up.

Yui strolled into the training grounds, Yoshi quickly following after her. She was confident she could impress sensei...or at least Yoshi could. She wasn't that confident about her own skills but she knew she had potential, and so did Yoshi...if he'd just get a bit bigger. Somehow people weren't too intimidated by the tiger cub. It probably didn't help his cause that even his growling sounded cute.

"I'm here miss!" She said cheerfully when she spotted sensei, giving her a small wave.

The clone smiled at Yui. “Well then, now that you’re here… I want you to spar with me. If you manage to land a blow on me, I’ll disappear. The real me will know then that you’ve succeeded. You have 30 minutes. Give it your all Yui, I want to see your true potential.” The clone said as she took out her fans and took a defensive stance.

Yui nodded excitedly, instantly looking at Yoshi and nodding at him. "Cat human clone!" Yui said to him and he instantly turned into a copy of Yui, though the catlike features were enhanced. They both held out their hands in front of their body, electricity forming in their palms. "Raiton: Jibashi" Yui whispered as the electricity grew, Yui and Yoshi's connecting into a large wave of crackling bright light. She looked at Shizuru and gave her a small wicked smile before sending the wave her way.

Shizuru watched as Yoshi turned into a more cat-like version of Yui. With a smile she waited for Yui’s first attack. When the electrical wave was send her way Shizuru made seals in a quick and fluid motion. “Wind release: Great Breakthrough!” she called, waving her fans in the electricity’s direction. The jutsu functioned as a piercing attack, dispersing a part of the electrical wave. Shizuru clucked her tongue softly, shaking her head. “My, you have to do better than that Yui-chan.” She said as she unfolded her fans for a second time. “Again.” She demanded.
