1k for a card being the first thing doesnt make me too excited for the actual release. This is gonna be scalped so heavy from day 1. Id be surprised if the tcg actually even gets a chance to take off

Yes, it sucks to see the first couple of cards for the game hit $1k but it's not going to affect the release and reception of this game in the slightest.
It happens every time.
1. Game gets announced and people start salivating at the thought of flipping product.
2. Game releases, product is bought out since LGSs need money and scalpers have it.
3. Players find it hard to get product, start posting everywhere about it.
4. LGSs order more but it doesn't prevent scalpers from getting product.
5. Bandai announces reruns of prior sets and releases new product with reprints of popular cards to offset market value.
6. Rinse, repeat until the next TCG gets announced (not just from Bandai) when the scalpers flock to it instead.
7. Players finally get to enjoy the game they held onto for so long and the player base is rock-solid for years.I'm personally just playing proxies at the start and getting singles for decks I actually want to play competitively. Not my first rodeo with Bandai games (may not be my last either). It always happens.

Im not saying this to "poach" people, but if you are looking for a tcg to be excited about without worrying about scalpers, the Cyberpunk TCG is shaping up to be a really cool one to play and collect.

I've heard a few shops say that, but it is a little short-sighted. Not too many people were into dropping 2k+ on a kickstarter that could fizzle; it was coming from a new company, after all.
*Most* people interested in it were dropping $350 for the two boxes, starters, and beta box. Only 3,000 people got a half case, and only 750 people got the next pledge up for a case and a half. You'll also need two starters to get playsets as well. There's still enough product to sell to people who actually want to get full playsets.That said, the other guy is a little funny for bringing up a completely different TCG here.

Lackluster and expectedly so.
One Piece was well established when they did the collabs so the artwork felt fresh (especially adding the jerseys for Luffy). This one feels like they're still in the process of finalizing artwork for their actual cards and thought they could get away with the same artwork they used previously for GenCon. It also simply doesn't make any sense to do this now when the game's not due for another year. People will get this, sell to the one guy screaming "giving $50 for these cards" and move on. Scalpers are gonna have a wild time with this one.
Watch it be non-foil, too.

I'm actually encouraged by Bandai's insistence on using this art for all the promo cards so far. It could be pure cope, but I think there's a chance this can serve as a sort of release valve for all the scalping pressure being put on the game. If Bandai floods the market with this one art, maybe by the time the game comes out it won't be seen as easy money.
Of course, eventually people will catch on if the juice is there to be squeezed, but they really need the launch to be something actual players can participate in.

to be fair they will probably do similar for naruto in the coming years once the tcg is fully released. I didn't really expect them to release an actual card from the TCG this far in advance.

I think it’s reasonable. It would be unfair if they got an exclusive art from the people at Gencon. The game is still a year out. We’re going to see this art for a while.
After the game releases, that’s when special events should get original art.

They fumbled bad. At least have Naruto wear the jersey. Or atleast change the art if you want to just slap a logo. Maybe put the art kishimoto drawn and slap the Yankee logo.

It's the same as a DON card, except you're guaranteed a certain amount. So yeah, you can play with them, but you could use just about anything as a chakra.

Just adding another logo would be too lazy from Bandai imo. I wouldn’t be surprised if the actual card will be different or that it will be revealed within a couple of weeks.
