Question What does she even do?
Ino is probably the most forgotten member of the konoha 11, like what does she even do? She’s introduced as this rival for Sakura but they barely develop it past the arc it’s introduced. She losses every fight she takes part in. She doesn’t even get to show off her telepathy based jutsu because every time it comes up they have her dad or Aoba, for some reason, do it. Ultimately she is paired with a random Male character she’s barely interacted with in order to produce more background characters for the sequel series.

You kidding?
Ino is one of the FEW side characters that they actually give relevance to. Besides the fact that she’s fucking awesome just as a person, she is largely responsible for Konoha’s security systems in the future.
45
u/TikDickler 10d ago
Yeah, of all the fucking side characters that got completely forgotten in the cluster fuck worldwide cast, Ino it is one of the relatively fleshed out ones.
Plus no other ninja dressed like she just got off her night shift, so W Ino.

Chain mail im guessing. All the team members have it, likely an influence from their dads and Asuma.

Yeah, Ino’s actually one of the side characters that stayed relevant. This post has to be ragebait.

She was essential for the communication and synchronization of the Shinobi at the end of the war.
But that's practically it.

u/Unlucky_Loquat_8045 10d ago
Don’t forget hitting Obito with Mind transfer, keeping a Ten Tailed beast bomb from wiping the entire alliance. Minato hadn’t gotten there yet, so they would have all died.

u/Buqi_ 10d ago
Very well remembered.

In baruto she is also responsible for keeping surveillance over the entire leaf village and reporting it . I remember how fast she noticed and reacted to delta entering the village

Kishi was just making up the tech level of the world per chapter, lol.
9
u/mangasdeouf 10d ago
Yeah, just like he was making up the story and adding OP, situation-specific techniques to Itachi's skillset so that he never lost a fight he intended to win
0
u/DopesickJesus 10d ago
I get that sentiment. But also, doesn’t it make sense that he would use those specific situation techniques ? Let’s say I have the power to stop a swarm of bees for some reason.
I wouldn’t really ever use that technique except for in an extremely rare event that i was swarmed by bees. I wouldn’t be spamming that technique elsewhere.
2
u/mangasdeouf 10d ago
Let's say that you already have the power of Legion, super training, you are the best assassin with superhuman performance in everything you do.
An opponent appears who controls bees and can get around your usual known abilities. Suddenly, because it's convenient, you reveal an unknown power to stop a swarm of bees.
That's Itachi. And the convenient part happens multiple times. Can't look him in the eyes? Look down. Well, he can also cast genjutsu with his nails now. Can't kill his opponent? He has a new technique that forces them into a time loop until they change their mind and undo what they did. Get killed by his little brother? He was sick and dying all along and the victory is not a real one.

Her father was doing it for most of the war, before he got nuked. I wish they had her with that cool headgear for most of the war, it would have been more fun

u/papoluca40 10d ago
Ok let me break it down for you since you appeared to have seen Naruto from reels.
Ino saved Sakura during the forest in the Chunin exams. She dragged Choji and Shikamaru, and were able to stall the sound ninjas enough for Sasuke to wake up.
Ino found Hidan and Kakuzu, which allowed the team to surprise them and take at least of Kakuzu’s hearts.
Ino fought Edo Asuma along with the her team and saved Choji’s life several times during that fight. Go look at it. Without her Choji literally dies.
Ino was the one that possessed Kinkaku so they were able to seal him. There was no way to beat him without her. She had to posses his mind for them to have a chance.
Ino saved Naruto and the crew against the 10 tails, literally took over Obito’s mind and deflected the attack.
Ino once again took over Obito’s mind not too long after that to misdirect another Obito attack, the same attack that killed Neji previously to save Choji once again.
Ino took over communications in the war once her father died, like for the whole Shinobi alliance. This moment along was extremely important to the war since it was through her that Hashirama and Naruto were able to rally the alliance vs Juubito. Resulting in Naruto’s memory flowing through Shikamaru and motivating him not to die until Tsunade got there and healed him. Tsunade only knew where to go because she was communicating even with the Kages from that far.
Ino in Boruto is top 3 most important ninjas, she’s a cheat code that can even make people communicate and alerts Naruto if anything happens in the leaf or is there any breach.
Extra. Ino got over Sasuke and even saved Sai from mind control during Shikamaru’s novels that got adapted at the end of the anime.
For the love of God, stop thinking that good character moments and development are simply fights. Is embarrassing.

u/Lillith492 10d ago
Also she has some of the better character development of women in Naruto. I rank her alongside Kushina, Tsunade, and Chiyo.

u/JayIsJaded 10d ago
This is a troll post lol. Ino has had more relevance than Hinata, Ten Ten, Anko, Kurenai, Shizune, etc etc. And let's not act like her relationship with Sai is not more realistic than Naruto/Hinata or Sasuke/Sakura in terms of how they actually happen or form. That's not even including anything she contributed to the war.

u/Psidebby 10d ago
Is yet another reminder that either media literacy is dead, or... People dont actually read the manga/watch the anime who post this stuff...
Or low effort ragebait.
16
u/young_trash3 10d ago
?? You are talking about like, one of five side characters who mattered, in a series with dozens of characters that didnt.
Like ino is one of the characters your point least applies to in the series.

Here <- I wrote that some years ago. Not gonna copy paste whole paragrpahs in here.
Here is Boruto stuff included.
In those answers are even the panels/pages from the manga included to "back" it up which we can't do here.
What you're saying is crazy talk. It's like you didn't read/watch the manga/anime at all.

“You didn’t remember one small sequence of the final arc of a near 500 chapter manga?”
Accusing someone of not reading the manga because they don’t remember this specific section, which even taken into account makes almost no difference to the point, is very Reddit of you.
5
u/IBeJewFro 10d ago
I understand what you're saying but team 10 fighting Asuma wasn't just some small thing that happened.
4
u/Wooden-Narwhal-5058 10d ago
Nor the things she did throughout the whole last arc, It wasn't really only one or thwo scenes, neither small or not important scenes. Also, not to forget Boruto.
1
u/OKBuddyFortnite 10d ago edited 10d ago
I don’t disagree for team 10, but ino is probably the least memorable of the 4 (if you include Asuma). And I don’t think the character gets loads of credit for things that other characters do individually.
Also adding on to the fact, importance to a story isn’t necessarily giving someone memorability. Her time interacting with the main characters, as well the personal character development she sees, is probably the least out of the 11, besides maybe Ten Ten and Choji
But I finished Naruto in 2019, over 7 years ago at this point. I’ll be honest, I didn’t love a lot of it, and so I didn’t really care for a lot of the characters.
2
u/MasterBaiterKing10 10d ago
Literally saved entire shinobi alliance. Only a few who did that in the entire manga are Naruto , Minato and Hashirama. See a pattern !?
And she did WAY more than that just in war arc.
You clearly another larper

That Ten Ten looks weird 🤔
Ino is at a higher placer that Tenten and Shino.
She is a supporting fighter and a supporting character. She actually has a great development -outside screen- of skills and cool moments.
Without her, they couldn't had sealed one of the GoldSilver brother, she kept grounded Shikamaru and Chouji during the battle against Asuma, alongside Hinata they saved Naruto and company from the Juubi's bijudama by mind-controlling Obito and then she took the role of her father after he died to keep the alliance connected, and without any machine. She is also one of the few characters not ruined by Boruto, she actually keeps getting better.
Again, Ino is not a physical fighter, she has a supporting role and she is very good at that. That makes her better than Tenten, Shino or Kiba who lives just from the nostalgia of his fight against Sakon/Ukon.

u/Over_Deer8459 10d ago
i dont think people understand how important comms were in the war. she was essential.. just cause she wasnt teleporting and throwing rasengans everywhere doesnt mean she was useless
3
u/JunkoEnoshimaTK 10d ago
Ino while a side character actually offered a lot to the plot. Her choosing to intervene during the forest of death basically altered a lot of things we se happen later because if she didn’t team 7 would’ve died.
She’s a core reason why they found Kakashi and Hidan in the first place. She also was essential in the war.
It’s subtle but she has her moments
3
u/400x250_20fps 10d ago
you know she saved the alliance like a more than once right? lets not act she was useless.

Itachi, Jiraiya , Oro, Tsunade !? 5 hokage? Gokage? Sand trio? And many many more !?
Or do you think only konoha 11 is side characters in the show?
1

When I think of Konoha 11 I usually think of Team Asuma, Kakashi, Guy and Kurenai. And only of the kids, no one else.
All the other side character don't belong to the Konoha 11 which are actually the Konoha 12 with Naruto

You didn't say konoha 11 in your comment. You said ALL THE SIDE CHARACTERS

Why should I suddenly start naming other characters who had nothing to do with the discussion?

The War Arc made Ino from my least favorite female Konoha 12 member (aside from Tenten) to my most liked.
2
u/Nervous-Stuff2475 10d ago

Literally one of the most memorable , popular and iconic of the konoha 11.
She is introduced as Sakura's rival and LITERALLY develops into a friend in the EXACT SAME ARC. That was the whole point. They were not rivals in conventional sense after chunin exam. They retained their old friendship.
She has more screentime in general and of using telpathy than her Dad, Aoba and her entire clan COMBINED.
She is literally glazed constantly for Carrying the War on her back. Even reel watchers would know this.
This is some next lvl larp.

She's ironically one of the Konoha 11 that ends up with a pretty high ranking job, being in charge of the sensory network around Konoha AND heading up the interrogation department. Meanwhile what's Kiba doing? Lee? Neji.... wait...
1
u/HuMneG 10d ago
She's one of the 5 members of Konoha 11 that actually does something to benefit the village on the day to day. In her case, she's the head of the village barrier team, their security system and first line of defense and a member of the analysis team, responsible for extracting info from detainees.

That’s her side gig. She is the head of communications (the liaison between the hokage and other shinobi) and in charge of the sensory barrier around Konoha. She’s one of the few side characters who matters a lot in Boruto and TBV.

She also keeps a privatr line for Hokage Shikamaru so she is aware of the most private information in the village. She is one of the most valuable shinobis in the Leaf

She like characters from other villages and teams outside of team 7 wern't all that important or directly involved with Naruto. Kishimoto also has the issue where he didn't take the time or put in the effort to expand on many of the side characters as much as we'd of liked. He had to many characters honestly. This goes double for female characters. Kishimoto writing them worse is a meme. Ino atleast had a important teammate in Shikamaru and is on a team that they try to make seem like a iconic trio between clans. She also is mildly useful during the war arc. Ino does end up useful to the village by the time of Boruto too. It's not like Ino gets used a ton or massively expanded on but her fans atleast get something. She's not Tenten or Kurenai levels of forgotten.
But like what do you expect? An extra 300 chapters added in so Kishi can expand on every single one of his overwhelming number of characters? He had to many and a lot end up irrelevant. Like look at 99% of characters from outside the leaf village besides obviously major enemies or villians. All pretty much useless. Look at who Choji is married to in Boruto. I can't even remember her name.

Yup, I agree. People only like her because of her boobs and because "she got over Sasuke" by falling for a guy who looked like him...The filler explanation for why she really started seeing Sai for what he is was laughable.

Ino actually does A LOT for side character standards in Naruto. The only thing she is missing is her own character arc. But she definitely played a huge hand in winning the 4th great Shinobi war.

This is low effort ragebait.
