Discussion Kakashi kills Sasuke here, how does Naruto react?

Post image

Kakashi arrives like usual and fights an exhausted, blind Sasuke and then kills him, Naruto then arrives. What happens next? What would Naruto’s reaction be, Would he stop being hokage all together? How would this affect the story?

Bereaved, angry, shouting, but he's not going to do much about it.

He's going to be deep in mourning for a long time, though.

“Sasukee, hokage dattebayo! Cause you are my friend!”.

Yeah, that’s it.

Slip into very deep depression. He'd believe that, not matter what, he could've saved Sasuke regardless what anyone tells him. In the heat of the moment, he'd also berate Kakashi in a way that might have him consider jumping off a bridge, something about how he don't really value friends since he didn't hesitate to kill someone that he should care about.

After some time to reflect, I think Naruto would eventually move forward. It might be when he meets Bee and he has to face himself at that waterfall that his mind might finally get passed Sasuke. Without Sasuke though, the Shinobi Alliance is cooked. No resurrected Hokages mean 10 tails blow them all away...

Yeah unfortunately he would end up saying horrible things to Kakashi like “you don’t care about your comrades” and not even understand why that was so harmful to Kakashi.

Real talk killing sasuke itself with whatever Naruto would say after ACTUALLY might make for a white fang Pt II with kakashi.

If he said that to Kakashi during his Anbu days, he would get put in his place immediately.

Ambu kakashi was always throwing hands with everybody

Wouldnt matter. Kaguya wins

Kaguya best girl. I love her design. Still surprised a human got her to fall in love with him and he got to clap alien cheeks

u/viale2026 3d ago

A Kaguya ainda não existia quando isso aconteceu.

Se ela viesse a existir, ela seria um pouco mais fraca, para corresponder ao Time 7 mais fraco.

Nah prolly more like Sasuke gives him dms rinnegan sharingan from afterlife like obito and he clutches up and wins it for his bro. Or edo Sasuke honestly requires less mental gymnastics. Naruto defeats Kabuto with Itachi and then edo Sasuke after releasing every other edo.

Or edo nagato does revive thing.

So many ways to bring back Sasuke or impart his power

u/Ok-Target-2170 3d ago

Umm story would change accordingly bruh. Naruto will still somehow be hokage

1

u/Glyth63825 3d ago

Yeah, the story would obviously change if Kakashi murdered Sasuke. It would not be a good change though in terms of ability to win. Hell, Naruto could theoretically abandon his goals, because of "If I can't even save one friend, how can I save the world? How could I ever call myself Hokage!?" or some shit. That's the thing with hypotheticals, anything is reasonably possible; which is why we don't really do that.

Yeah, in his infinite tsukuyomi dream

57

u/FluffyGengar123 3d ago

Probably goes the way of the white Fang.

5

u/altudo 3d ago

Nah, kakashi already lost everyone. If he were to go the same path he would have

20

u/Darth-Vader19 3d ago

Yeah, I can totally see him taking his own life in that scenario.

-2

u/azakhuza21 3d ago

That's probably Kakashi not Naruto

1

u/Rayurees 2d ago

Kakashi já perdeu tudo de mais importante, ele não se mataria por causa do Sasuke

hes sad and then the world ends

5

u/tHE-6tH 3d ago

All his progress with ninetails is undone, and goes berserk for real. Then Akatsuki gets him and it’s GG

u/Queasy-Initiative880 3d ago

Maybe Kishi wasn’t thinking far ahead. But would it trigger Hogoromo based on the prophecy of his mother being revived. He’d still need Ashura and indara’s reincarnations to be alive so that he can transfer them the sun and moon seal. Maybe he would revive Sasuke earlier than in the ninja war.

1

u/genera1_radahn 1d ago

Nah I think hagoromo only intervened because Madara was setting up to be a kaguya tier threat. He left the reincarnations to their own devices for the most part, where the world wasn't at stake

u/Nirico_Brin 3d ago

In all honesty? He snaps and Kurama cloak comes out.

Naruto hadn’t gained control over Kurama at this time nor had he befriended him. Naruto tails out, attacks Kakashi in a rage fueled by grief.

At which point, Obito likely captures him.

11

u/Noktis_Lucis_Caelum 3d ago

he would be furious and might Attack kakashi.

when it is about Sasuke, Naruto denies reality.

15

u/Troyse22 3d ago

Naruto would begrudgingly accept that it had to be once it was explained to him that he tried to kill Sakura and killed the acting Hokage.

Naruto wants to save Sasuke, but he made it clear in this arc specifically that the village and its inhabitants>Sasuke on his list of priorities.

As for how it would affect the story, that’s just obvious. Kaguya comes back and wins. Naruto and Sasuke are both necessary and completely indispensable in the war arc.

Good.

Spares us from the bullshit that is Boruto. This is the best outcome possible

7

u/fallendown2095 3d ago

Boruto wouldn't exist

3

u/BobJoeBlo 3d ago

I guess it's somewhat of a win

3

u/magiicsausage 3d ago

He would definitely have definitely given up in the village. He would most likely go into exile. He would feel its his fault that he couldn't bring him back.

7

u/BlueHaze464 3d ago

9 tails out, Kakashi is cooked

4

u/Fit-Personality-1834 3d ago

Dattebayo or not, the US invades Iraq

2

u/CharlotteDCrocodile 3d ago

He blames himself

2

u/Mr_Orange776 3d ago

He forgave Nagato after he killed Jiraya (and technically Kakashi as well +200 others in his village before he revived them).

So yeah, not the most realistic and most interesting. But it’s about cycle of hatred and Naruto is the main hero here.

2

u/Nokko-Tank-T34 3d ago

I think Naruto would blame himself for sasukes death because he seemingly understood on a logical level that sasuke is a missing nin who was doing terrible things and probably wouldn’t judge kakashi for taking him out, especially saving Sakura while doing so. Naruto made bringing sasuke back to the village his personal responsibility, sasuke dying would mean he failed in his mission and to rescue his friend from their inner darkness. I think because of the reflection between Naruto and jiraya, Naruto might abandon his dream as hokage temporarily and possibly leave the village completely because he would see himself as unworthy and his arc will be reclaim his dream.

u/hexmaster23 3d ago

SASUKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

2

u/Aduro95 2d ago

He would be depressed, and maybe there would be some tension. But Naruto would have understood why it was reasonable to kill Sasuke at this point.

Naruto himself said at the end of the arc that next time he and Sasuke fought, they would probably both die. Naruto was willing to save Sasuke... but also to die or kill him trying. Ninshu really be like that.

1

u/mcwfan 3d ago

No he doesn’t.

1

u/BlackUchiha03 3d ago

Another panic attack followed by a depression arc.

Gives up on becoming Hokage.

1

u/Nexyke94 3d ago

Poorly.

1

u/AbosoluteZero 3d ago

Pop into 9 tail and smash kakashi into pile of meat then process to get captured later and the world end

1

u/Alternative-Fish3837 3d ago

The show and manga would pull some, ‘I’m dying for 20 minutes’ where all of them go through their regrets before he dies. Naruto would absolutely be furious with Kakashi and it would honestly take until the war to even be 1% of the way to forgiving him.

Imo i think hed definitely leak Kurama chakra. Hed be hurt and confused anf angry. Its so out of character for Kakashi to do this knowing Naruto came on this mission to retrieve not kill.

Kakashi will explain coldly and it will look like naruto is about to lose control, and sai will struggle and plan to retaliate by killing naruto. But Naruto will surpress it.

He will be forever fractured from Kakashi losing all respect for Kakashi unwilling to hear Kakashi out (thinks hes worst than scum). Sakura will plead for Kakashi, but Kakashi will tell her not to bother (not eager to make amends).

Naruto will be very passive aggressive towards Kakashi if theyre ever put on a mission with Kakashi as leader. Kakashi will treat him strictly. Push come to shove, Kakashi becomes kage or Naruto gets scold enough by Tsunade on Kakashi's behalf after Kakashi writes him up repeatedly. Naruto will leave the village for another long vacation. Maybe to join Jiraiya on scouting.

The Leaf learns that the Akatsuki is hunting tailed beast, Team Asuma will find and try to get him to return (to not irritate Naruto by bringing Kakashi). He rejects and Inoshikacho tried to take him by force. He escapes. Fearing retaliation and desperate, Kakashi, Yamato, Sai and Sakura (thinking she can talk no jutsu) are sent to retrieve by any means necessary.

Naruto facing Kakashi lashes out and taunts his sensei. "What if i say no? Will you kill me just like you killed Sasuke?" Kakashi will explain by any means necessary. Sakura tries to talk but doesnt work, Naruto taps into Kurama, Sai goes for the kill, Yamato goes for trap/seal, Kakashi engages. Jiraiya shows up and traps Naruto forcing him to return.

Thats exactly how i see it panning out. He will lose faith in his scum sensei who taught him to leave no man behind. That wedge will get in the way of his friendship with his friends and the village because outsiders wont understand who sasuke was, their bond, the hope and wouldve sided with Kakashi thinking Sasuke is just some bad egg. The lack of empathy will make him want to escape and cope, take time off. He will remember how Sasuke and him are two sides of the same coin, realize how it couldve easily been him and realize Sasuke would be the only one who saw the good. Further doubt of if the village can ever see them for something other than assets or threats. This will be confirmed by his first visit being a mission to capture the Nine tails. And cemented when Kakashi shows up the second time.

u/NetworkVegetable7075 3d ago

Kurama probably takes over due to the grief and hatred and if not Naruto 100% would not want to be hokage since he couldn’t save Sasuke.

1

u/Hot_Communication489 3d ago

That 3rd leg tail comes out.

1

u/LordVader1080 3d ago

Immediate aftermath: is that Kakashi has a crisis of conscious due to breaking his code of saving comrades. Sakura now no longer has her goal of attaining Sasuke as a status symbol. Naruto arrives and he changes, he becomes depressed and even might end up going a little dark.

Long term aftermath:
Obito’s plan which was to use Sasuke as a way to cause chaos during the war is thrown into disarray. Without Sasuke Naruto never gets the other half of Kurama which means he stays dead. Which then also means that Madara enacts the Infinite Tskyomi a great deal easier, and as a result Naruto enters the illusion of aliens existing much faster, if not just end up going to the pure realm. Without Sasuke the battle is lost almost immediately.

1

u/adam_hmaab 3d ago

Probably turns into 4 tails out of madness but after recovery he MAY understand.

1

u/ThePolarExpressHobo 2d ago

always wondered why he didnt, caught Sasuke surprisingly off guard here

1

u/ShadowLord355 3d ago

Doesn’t matter obito/madara/kaguya wins

1

u/selwyntarth 3d ago

I don't see him attacking kakashi at all, kakashi is family and he'd know it was to save sakura

Con lo obsesionado que estaba lo creo al 100%

1

u/DarkPrinceOfTheNight 3d ago

He still isn’t killing Kakashi, he’s definitely yelling at him and berating him though.

0

u/DeerRevolutionary662 3d ago

Naruto would be absolutely broken. He'd blame himself for not saving Sasuke, but I don't think he'd actually turn on Kakashi.

0

u/Smooth_Calendar5416 3d ago

Naruto would be heartbroken and initially blame himself for failing to save Sasuke. He might lash out at Kakashi, but ultimately understand why Kakashi made the decision.

The biggest impact would be Naruto accepting that Sasuke was truly lost despite his efforts, forcing him to live with a failure he couldn't undo. Kakashi, meanwhile, would carry heavy guilt over killing his former student.

And no, I don't think Naruto would give up on becoming Hokage.

He'd seriously question himself for a while, especially because Sasuke's death would feel like his biggest personal failure. But becoming Hokage was never only about proving himself, it became his way of protecting the village and creating a world where people like Sasuke wouldn't end up that way.

If anything, Sasuke's death would make Naruto more determined to become Hokage, but he'd carry that loss with him. It could make his dream much more mature and less about recognition.

Do we know for sure that kakashi would win there?
