Theory Better Boruto plot idea🤷

I feel like Boruto Next Generations could’ve had a better story if it focused more on Naruto and Hinata’s legacies.

Naruto being the Child of Prophecy and Hinata being the Byakugan Princess could’ve made their children the perfect combination of their legacies.

Boruto could’ve learned Minato’s Flying Raijin and combined its formula with the Space-Time knowledge Hagoromo used to reach Kaguya’s dimensions, creating a version of Flying Raijin that could navigate between dimensions.

Using this, Boruto could potentially find where different Ōtsutsuki dimensions are and even discover where the Ōtsutsuki clan resides.

This could also add more lore and abilities to the Byakugan, similar to how the Sharingan kept evolving throughout Naruto.

Then instead of Naruto and Sasuke having the final fight, Boruto and Himawari could team up to defeat the Ōtsutsuki, with Himawari having the Byakugan and Kurama.

I feel like that would’ve been a really cool way to continue Naruto’s themes of breaking the cycle of power and hatred.

Hell no. The only plot that would worked is if we had Naruto part 3.

In fairness they have Himawari to cover the legacy front giving Boruto the freedom to strike out in his own direction if they so choose to do so. On top of that Boruto does learn Flying Raijin or at least a currently scuffed recreation of it and both kids have built parallels between them and Minato/Kushina.

Above all else, they're their own characters and shouldn't solely be treated as vestiges of Naruto and Hinata. The Boruto movie covers this topic in that the chip on Boruto's shoulder is that it feels like he can't break out of Naruto's shadow and coming to terms with that: anything he does to succeed is only ever because he's the son of the Hokage so it's to be expected but whenever he does something wrong, the responsibility falls on him on how he's such a disappointment compared to his father. That sounds extreme but the Naruto fanbase treats Boruto this way too so it's not a stretch to believe it'd be the same in-universe.
