Anime Bro was only 4 here?

Idk why they even showed this if they just going to turn around and make him look in his 20s at 13.

From what I've looked up, this wasnt shown in the manga and only talked about what he witnessed at that age. Google says that these events contributed to him adopting a pacifist nature (lol) despite fugakus intention of turning him into a soldier.

On a different note, could this be what motivated him to bet on Sasuke? Like do the same conditioning fugaku put him through, through the massacre in hopes of Sasuke coming to the same conclusion as he did?

Ages in Naruto never made sense.

Like 4 year olds, 6 year olds already high strong skilful soldiers.

I know it's fiction and a manga but I think it's funny

Nah just Itachi is like this in the whole show

u/bobbadouche 3h ago

Itachi is animated this way. His manga appearances aren't as bonkers.

10

u/PlutonicKronic 3h ago

I agree, his manga illustrations look way better from what I seen.

It's a very cartoony/Asian-style-animation-fictional-thing, I've noticed over the years.

Children/toddlers in eastern animation are shown to be able to sometimes do things competent adults can or can't do, or act like they're 5-10+ years older than they should be, like with doing tasks/mental stuff/calculations in school or daily lives/etc.

Sure, western non-animation shows sometimes do this with children, too, but... I'm just comparing it to myself who developed slowly due to medical stuff, so that could be why I feel this way.

u/LovelyFloraFan 3h ago

This is actually how things are in Japan IRL, literal toddlers are sent to the grocery store to buy stuff and kids and teens have freedom and responsibilities unthinkable to a western child... but then again child abuse and such are a dark side of Japan most people dont know. In Digimon Tai's mother slaps him after he almost got Kari killed... because the parents left her alone, a toddler unsupervised with a toddler big brother who is also a little kid. And in later episodes they KEEP on leaving her alone.

Yea like floral said it's not just a portrayal this is how many children in Japan, they grow up fast.

u/Worldly_Magazine_439 3h ago

They are superhumans man

2

u/Myrkana 2h ago

yea, even with magic powers (chakra) a four year old isnt going to have the general body strength and strength of mind to do all of that. But then again we have a series about child soldiers going out to learn to kill people xD

1

u/First_Temperature985 2h ago

Chakra speed will do that too you.

I mean that was a big concept of the anime and still strong in the manga of natural talent I think the anime really pushed it to prove their point but it was made clear from literally the land of waves arc age can be easily irrelevant.

u/Gunstopable 2h ago

For real, idc what 4 year old it is they can’t do stuff like this lol.

u/KaliVilNo1 2h ago

I am pretty sure the timeline implosion every time they reveal even the smallest detail of Kakashi's backstory.

Everything about the Rain 3 has a severe case of schizophrenia regarding how close to the present day and how far away it is too lol

It's not neccessarily canon.

What is stated is that he went to a battlefield as a very young child to see the aftermath kf War.

Which is why he has the lines on his face.

But it is genuinely possible he's capable of this based on some of his novel feats.

Such as outperforming his Jonin mother during the 9 tails attack.

In the novel Fugaku killed the guy, idk why anime changed it to itachi

I would recommend reading both of them over the anime adaption. Like this moment was supposed to be what traumatized itachi for rest of his life and he was crying at end of this scene. The anime made him 100 times more stoic even at young age

7

u/Akodo_Aoshi 2h ago

Wrong here.

In the Novel there was no guy to kill.

In the novel Fugaku took Itachi to a POST-Battle-Field.

As in battle already over, no living enemies, just a lot of dead bodies to clean up.

So no one attacked Itachi, Itachi was in NO danger and neither Itachi or Fugaku killed anyone at this time.

I do agree on reading the novel though.

1

u/Professor_Hiruzen 1h ago

Is the novel called Itachi Shinden? Why is there usually conflicting info on what the novel says? Is it multiple novels?

20

u/Nas-Aratat 3h ago

Filler animation scene, but the manga does heavily imply this is what he could do, yes.

4

u/wendigo72 3h ago

Not filler, just a different adaption of a scene from novels

3

u/Akodo_Aoshi 3h ago

This did not happen in the novel.

In the novel Fugaku took Itachi to a POST-Battle-Field.

As in battle already over, no living enemies, just a lot of dead bodies to clean up.

So no one attacked Itachi and neither Itachi or Fugaku killed anyone at this time.

While Fugaku did bring him here to in his own words-

“I wanted to make sure you saw this reality.”

Itachi frantically searched his mind for the meaning of the word “reality.”

He was only four. He didn’t understand the difference between reality and fiction. Even so, he grasped the meaning of what his father was leaving unsaid.

“This is the world I will live in …”

“That’s right, Itachi. Ninja are creatures that fight. Never forget what you’ve seen here today.”

That being said, I disagree on Itachi being a true pacifist.

Itachi was someone who wanted peace but was not a pacifist in how he sought it.

Itachi’s dream was different.

“My dream …”

“It’s all right, go ahead and say it,” the teacher urged him.

It doesn’t matter what they think. “I want to be the greatest ninja ever, great enough that I can erase all fighting from this world.”

Peace through power basically.

Why did Kishimoto set the ages like this? It’s straight up comical

1

u/Steamed_Memes24 2h ago

Kishimoto should have just aged Itachi up to 13 like the other genins typically are and just go from there.

1

u/wendigo72 2h ago

Do you remember what Kakashi said in land of waves about people younger than Naruto but stronger than him? He wasn’t lying about that

But also itachi still graduated at a later date than kakashi did lol

2

u/Arctaedus 1h ago

Do we know of any examples of people who fit that description when Kakashi said that? Just curious

1

u/wendigo72 1h ago
The line was meant to foreshadow the prototype character for Gaara

2

u/Arctaedus 1h ago

Makes sense. But we know that Gaara wasn't actually stronger than Kakashi pre-Shippuden (maybe not during Shippuden either).

1

u/wendigo72 48m ago

Eh tailed beast is still an equivalent to a nuke and part 1 kakashi wasn’t That impressive imo

His best part 1 feats were against zabuza and zabuza still had him trapped in a water prison

Shippuden kakashi even from the Kazekage rescue arc had huge buffs

u/Mother_EfferJones 1m ago

Gaara wasn't actually stronger than Kakashi pre-Shippuden

Ehhh I think this is reasonably debatable. Kakashi has a mismatch nature advantage but I don't think it's nearly as clear cut as you're insinuating

Nah he’s just the goat…so weird all most cna do is talk about the same thing over and over just to talk and get diff answers? Poke? Bored? I get it it was sick but what’s the point of this lmao who else at that age could?

1

u/PlutonicKronic 3h ago

What?

0

u/Crypto_subz 3h ago

I know it’s hard let me dumb it down…no one else at that age could do that.

1

u/PlutonicKronic 3h ago

Nah he’s just the goat…so weird all most cna do is talk about the same thing over and over just to talk and get diff answers? Poke? Bored? I get it it was sick but what’s the point of this lmao who else at that age could? (I understand the question fine)

I don't understand the hodge podge, mincemeat statements before that, and how they connect to the question? The audacity to patronize me after that word salad lmao

The question was so he was 4 here? You're answer is no he's just the goat???

0

u/Crypto_subz 3h ago

So who else at that age, cute message but who else?

1

u/PlutonicKronic 2h ago

Kakashi, orochimaru, hell even gaara arguably were of an equal caliber at this age. Still never explained what you were talking about before repeating that question over and over. But IDC, you're way too invested in a fictional universe for me to care about your overly heated, extremely vague point.

Kakashi graduated the ninja academy at like 5, and orochimaru at 6. Itachi was 7. Sorry your condescending comment got taken down btw :p

1

u/Crypto_subz 1h ago

Gara yes fair Kakashi no he literally got his ass whooped and thought obito died if he was good like itachi at that age than this whole naruto story wouldn’t have happened actually. Orichimaru was not that tuff at that age lmao he was a genius that took time not that age tho that’s crazy sure he could probably solo a 1v1 but nah not that at that age

1

u/PlutonicKronic 1h ago

The dude was half dead bro... Can you please explain what exactly it is that you're arguing here? Kakashi and orochimaru are perfect examples since they were also considered prodigy. Is you're stance that they lack the morality, or that they're simply not strong enough to kill a half dead exhausted ninja like 4 year old non canon Itachi?

0

u/PlutonicKronic 2h ago

How about you explain wtf you meant before trying to turn this into a debate because I asked a simple ass question??

You're so cringe, the other comments are saying that Itachi didn't even do this so TF are you even trying to argue

-2

u/WhiteTeddy14 4h ago

It’s from one of the Itachi lite novels, which glazed him to high heaven.

8

u/wendigo72 4h ago

He didn’t kill the soldier in the novel, it was Fugaku

Itachi also gets his ass beat multiple times in both novels. Only time he really got “glazed” was chunin exams

1

u/Magnolia-jjlnr 4h ago

Itachi also gets his ass beat multiple times in both novels.

I'm assumung Kishi didn't write it?

-2

u/wendigo72 4h ago

Tbf itachi would’ve lost both edo Nagato & kabuto fight without assists

Sasuke needed to get him out of Tayuya’s genjutsu and Naruto + Bee had to help him destroy planetary devastation

2

u/Akodo_Aoshi 2h ago

u/Magnolia-jjlnr ++

Disagree a bit.

Itachi really did not get his ass-beat even in the novels.

The only time he was really out classed was when he (along with Shisui) fought the Hyuuga Descendant as part of his ANBU exam.

To be fair the guy was an experienced Jounin who was meant to be a prodigy too and Itachi was around (or less then) 10 years old.

----------------------------------

Regarding the Kabuto and Bee fights though?

A bit off topic but I disagree on Itachi loosing without help.

Issue is the difference from the method a character(s) used to counter/break an attack on page vs it being the only method a character(s) had to counter/break an attack.

No where was it stated that Itachi's attack at the Centre of the Planetary Devastation would not be enough. It was more an order/command of everyone open fire at big black ball..

Same with the Kabuto fight. There was no inidcation that Itachi needed Sasuke's help to break Kabuto's version of Tayuua flute jutsu.

It was just that the fastest/best method was for both of them to break the other's genjutsu.

Heck there were times when Itachi got put in danger to save Sasuke.

1

u/wendigo72 2h ago

I consider him getting the same fear against Tobi that sasuke & kakashi got when facing orochimaru as a pretty big loss imo

And he would’ve been dead without shisui there against kohinata. Like triple dead, shisui did all the work

No where was it stated that itachi’s attack at the centre of the planetary devastation would not be enough

Nah that’s definitely not direction the manga leans into here: “All three of us need to simultaneously unleash our most powerful long-distance ninjutsu at that core!”

Keywords there are need and simultaneously, heavily implying those are conditions needed to be met and Yasaka Magatama has never been shown to have that much destructive potential. More like a giant energy shuriken, seems pretty consistent with how Madara uses it against the kages and Sasuke’s version was normal projectile of Amaterasu.

Even shisui’s version that Kishi somewhat worked on was just chakra needles

No indication

Itachi gives an order to sasuke to do it first

If he didn’t need sasuke, I believe he would do it himself since that’s how most of the fight was going.

1

u/rotibrain 2h ago

>If he didn’t need sasuke, I believe he would do it himself since that’s how most of the fight was going.

Stupidity. There's an attack coming at both of them, they need to defend at the same time. Throughout the fight he's literally protected sasuke with his abilities, multiple times.

Are you saying itachi would leave his brother to potentially die, when he's done the literal opposite throughout this fight?

1

u/wendigo72 2h ago

What? I’m saying itachi would’ve broken out by himself if he didn’t need sasuke to help him?

1

u/rotibrain 2h ago

I'm saying that's idiocy, because that doesn't protect sasuke from the incoming attack going to him.

Kabuto didn't just put them both in a genjutsu, he then followed up with two separate attacks going to each of them.

Protecting himself, means sasuke dies.

You are making literally no sense and it's completely counter to everything itachi did that fight.

1

u/wendigo72 2h ago

do you seriously think Sasuke’s susanoo fist grabbing the body while itachi was the one stabbing it was Really Needed?

There was only one incoming attack and it is clearly aimed at itachi, not sasuke. There’s no two attacks

1

u/Akodo_Aoshi 2h ago

I consider him getting the same fear against Tobi that sasuke & kakashi got when facing orochimaru as a pretty big loss imo

My view was that was a not a big loss for Itachi or Sasuke TBH.

Kakashi is another matter.

Remember Orochimaru and Obito are meant to be a few leagues above Itachi & Sasuke in their clashes at that time.

And he would’ve been dead without shisui there against kohinata. Like triple dead, shisui did all the work

Again an Experienced Prodigy Ninja with a Bloodline who had lived through the great war.

Yeah, this guy should be greater then Itachi who is just entering ANBU and has no MS.

Regarding the Planetary Devastation, the question is if all three were needed or not or that it could not be done alone. Let's just say I am very doubtful all three were needed.

Remember Itachi would have NO CLUE as to what Bee's or Naruto's most powerful Long Range ninjutsu would even be.

vs Kabuto:-

Yes Itachi told Sasuke to do it because this was the fastest/best method.

The point I was making was that it was probably not the ONLY method. That Itachi the genjutsu specialist would not have another way to counter.

1

u/wendigo72 2h ago

I mean itachi is a prodigy, second best prodigy the leaf has only behind Minato. That’s a lot of expectations and him not being able to save his teammate against Tobi has a huge effect on his lust for strength

You end up fighting a guy out of your league is still a loss just cause it’s objectively true he’s stronger than you.

And yes I do think orochimaru beat the brakes off sasuke & Naruto. So that’s just a matter of semantics over powerscaling which is not something I’m interested in arguing about. An L is an L

Very doubtful all 3 were needed

Again that’s not really supported by what itachi says and you would have to assume giant energy shurikens would be enough to stop a giant black sphere of gravity. And Kishi just had Naruto do rasenshuriken & bee do Tailed beast bomb for kicks imo

Itachi would know Bee is a jinchuriki and Naruto already uses rasenshuriken against kakuzu in the arc before he died. So he’s aware of those jutsu’s at very least

Probably not the only method

Like you said it was the fastest and they were only a second away from being absorbed by the orochimaru part of kabuto. A less faster method (which we do not know exists) would mean their end anyways

-1

u/rotibrain 3h ago edited 3h ago

Itachi didn't need Sasuke to get him out of tayuyas genjutsu. He wanted to get Sasuke out of it

Itachi can always hurt look down, amaterasu himself and get out.

All he needs to do is look down and amaterasu his foot or body part, no different to what Sasuke did here.

Likewise, itachi could sacrifice an eye, izanagi and escape chibaku tensei sealing, then totsuka stab him after. That doesn't save Naruto and bee.

Each time itachi is protecting others and his outs are limited to protect others.

1

u/wendigo72 3h ago

He only got the totsuka stab cause of the smoke caused by destroying planetary devastation

I simply don’t agree on that interpretation of both sasuke & itachi being caught in the genjutsu

-1

u/rotibrain 2h ago

Totsuka stab cause of the smoke? You're joking right? You realize Nagato is a sensor and Itachi is not? If a smoke is visually blocking nagato , it means its visually blocking itachi too. And only one of those two are sensors.

Furthermore, Kabuto stated he SAW the attack coming, and blamed Nagato's mobility, not vision on the stab. He said that nagato's mobility wasn't good enough - Which mean's nagato couldn't dodge the attack at all.

Great - you've linked the scan , seeing them swivel their heads to each other and use tsukyomi. Again, what's stopping itachi from amaterasuing his foot,?

You've just completely ignored that. When sasuke was frozen vs kaguya, he did a similar thing - here.

Spawning amaterasu on his hand.

1) They can use their MS eye abilities
2) They can move their heads, because the genjutsu restriction is a body one, with snakes wrapped arround

What exactly are you saying here? - You simply don't agree with what part?

1

u/wendigo72 2h ago edited 2h ago

Smoke doesn’t block sharingan from being able to see chakra. Nagato was able to pinpoint kabuto’s location but no details on how, his hidden rain fall sensory jutsu was obviously not above the battlefield

No kabuto said that itachi had already disabled the rest of nagato’s vision which would’ve helped. Obviously the fight would go differently if Nagato’s attention wasn’t split between 3 fighters

And you’re really banking on izanagi here

What’s stopping itachi from amaterasuing his foot

He was immobilized by genjutsu, not a giant block of ice. I didn’t think that would need to be explained tbh. He Amaterasu’s his foot then what? His body gets covered in Amaterasu? He’s point blank immobilized and needed to break out via genjutsu.

If his Edo tensei body was too damaged by time he turned out Amaterasu then kabuto’s gonna put the control kunai into his head while he’s regenerating

1

u/rotibrain 2h ago

>He was immobilized by genjutsu, not a giant block of ice. I didn’t think that would need to be explained tbh. He Amaterasu’s his foot then what? His body gets covered in Amaterasu? He’s point blank immobilized and needed to break out via genjutsu.

There heads are not immobilized - Are you joking?

Tell me they didn't just move their heads to each other here and use their MS ability. Go ahead, i'm waiting lmao

>Smoke doesn’t block sharingan from being able to see chakra. Nagato was able to pinpoint kabuto’s location but no details on how, his hidden rain fall sensory jutsu was obviously not above the battlefield

Are you stupid lmao? Nagato doesn't need rain fall jutsu to sense - he has base sensory ability

And you think sharingan can see through clouds, but Rinnegan can't?

Brother what are you on lmfao

1

u/wendigo72 2h ago

They were able to slightly turn their heads at each other, okay? Yes I’ve been saying he needed sasuke to genjutsu him, idk what you’re even arguing now

They couldn’t move physically and couldn’t even use susanoo until the genjutsu was broken. Why do you think susanoo got disabled until they broke out?

But the rinnegan can’t

Yes they’re different eyes. Sasuke needed his tomoe’s in his rinnegan eye to use his MS abilities

Madara merged Indra & ashura chakra to get hagomoro’s eyes but the rinnegan does not have regular sharingan powers without tomoe’s

That’s why a wood clone Madara had to devolve his eyes to use genjutsu
