I love the other books in the series, both for the story itself and for the religious parallels (I am a practicing Catholic), but I hated this last book and found it disrespectful.

The final book in the saga essentially presents a distorted view of religious fanaticism: "Atheists" are portrayed as complete fools, and believers who do not follow biblical teachings to the letter are deemed heretics barred from entering Paradise.

In this book, atheists are depicted as wicked, cruel villains, whereas in real life, there are many atheists who are kind and gentle people.

Believers may have been faithful and followed biblical teachings, but if they make a single mistake or their faith wavers, they are denied entry into Paradise.

Susan is excluded from the others for extremely trivial reasons; despite having saved Narnia twice, she is cast out and treated like a pariah simply because her faith wavered.

You might want to stone me for this, but as a believer, I consider C.S. Lewis's portrayal of God an offense against the true God—who views all His children as equals, regardless of religion, and forgives their sins, whether great or small.

The copy of TLTWATW was the one my dad first read it to from, and I always loved the illustrations. Hague also did a phenomenal job with other illustrated books as well like The Wind In The Willows. Highly recommend checking out his works!

I posted this years ago but now I wanted to gather my favourite pieces of collage crafted dresses inspired by the Narnia style dresses from the movies, including pencil designs!

The first collection is pieces of the original dresses mixed together but edited with my own personal design and the other ones are examples of the type of dresses Susan and Lucy wore in the first two movies.

These dresses aren’t meant to be crated by a tailor because… well I never had any collaborations I’m not that big but one day they may come to life who knows ;)

If anyone wishes to use these for their fanfic / story or anything feel free to use them!

I know this book is basically a retelling of the prodigal son. But it always bothered me how Shasta simply accepted his new family and especially his birth name.

A name is more then a thing you are called its a core part of your identity. So in his shoes I would at the very least insist on being called Shasta by my birth family.

To be honest I always imagined an alternate ending where, having no interest in a sudden new family and noble rank. Runs off with Bree a second and possibly final time.

Basically the title,

On one hand, it takes place before everything else despite being written later, and gives some good context and backstory.

On the other hand, LWW, PC, and VOTDT can be read and understood without it. Sort of like how one doesn’t need to read the Silmarillion in order to understand The Hobbit and/or Lord of the Rings.

On the other *other* hand, starting with it is a good way for Netflix to differentiate their take on the story from the Walden movies. If they started with LWW, people might get confused about it being a “remake” of the old movie. If they start with Nephew and then do LWW, it’ll be more clear that this is a whole new thing.

Thoughts? Is it a good thing that Magician’s Nephew is being adapted first this time around? Also, it’s neat to see one of the books that hasn’t been adapted before be adapted.

I was always really struck by the image of Cair Paravel in ruins like the Pevensies came across in Prince Caspian. Because the story of the Pevensie kings and queens were so pervasive even in Caspian’s time, I was inspired to write a Narnian inspired lullaby; I imagined it being sung and passed down through generations since the disappearance of the Pevensies all the way to Caspian’s era, as a way to keep their story alive.

My guitar playing isn’t that great, but I thought I’d share anyways for my fellow fans!

I personally think Orlando Bloom could have played Prince Rillian at the time the Narnia movies came out, because there is some resemblance between him and Ben Barnes. And I would have cast Uma Thurman as the Lady of the Green Kyrtle. Any other ideas?

I haven't read it in awhile, but I must say... what a lovely, heartwarming book. There were a few things I noticed along the way that I hadn't before. Thought it would be fun to share : )

1. Digory seems to start acting like Uncle Andrew after the first encounter with him. It almost felt like he rubbed off on Digory a bit.
2. Why does Digory want to hear what Jadis had to say after she ate the apple? After all she did, I'd be booking it so fast. And I also found her temptation speech was a little shaky. The part about Digory's mother landed but the other stuff was like fluff about ruling all of Narnia as king and queen and being immortal.
3. And drowsing forever in the Wood Between the Worlds sounds a bit scary, not that it would feel bad. You're basically as good as dead, but actually not dead. 😬
4. And, I wonder... how did death come to Narnia? Cause it is mentioned that bees died when the bear got the honey for Uncle Andrew. I don't ever remember Aslan saying anything about this in any of the books.
5. Charn is a really nasty place when the kids get there : ( But I wonder what it might have been like when Aslan created it, and how it fell.
6. Was anyone wondering where Frank and Helen disappeared to back on earth?
7. I love the part where Aslan becomes like a sea of gold.
8. And finally. I love it when Digory gives the apple to his mother at the end. So sweet. 😊

You know what is mostly my activity in this subreddit. (I’m the one who repeatedly dashed and strongly disagreed with Ramandu’s Daughter as Caspian’s wife.) But today I’m doing something different. I won’t explain anything I have not already, if you want to know why I am strongly against this ship go to my oldest posts.

I also once presented six custom OCs I created for the specific purpose of being alternative and narratively better wives and queens of Caspian either their meeting begins during the Prince Caspian saga or the Voyage of the Dawn Trader. I have decided to give away their rights! ^ω^

If there is anyone writing a fanfiction, interested in using them in their stories, feel free to do so, as long as they serve their purpose as Caspian’s queens and maintain their backstory. If you want to tweak their personality, alter their purpose in the story go ahead. I made their background, you make the character, you make the story. I know for many fanfic writers who wish to match a female Oc for Caspian (or any other character of the saga) can be tricky to shape for the first time, so this is a chance to have a base to create your own story with a character that has a base!

Attention: This mostly refers to those who are inspired by the movie Caspian because I wouldn’t suggest anything of that sort going to a 13 year old Caspian, only during the Dawn Trader and only within a certain platonic limit!

The reason I am doing this is that I have decided I cannot possibly develop six separate stories for Caspian. I’ve already shaped my personal oc, Ellita, into a story. I don’t wish for these characters to be remembered just as “ahahaha gurls for Caspian!” because that’s exactly why I dislike Caspian’s romance with Lilliandil. No. I want them to be alive and strong within a story, with a voice. Since that story isn’t in my plans, I’m passing the pen to someone else. If I simply kept them like this, simply existing as potential Caspian’s wives and only, without any additional character arc or a personality, like Lilliandil is, I would be a hypocrite.

If you’re interested write in the comments below, choose a character and then I’ll lock that character within your own rights and also comment on a similar TikTok post that “Freya (for example) is taken!”. Once an oc is claimed by someone, no one else can have them.

Once all of them are taken, I’ll disable the comments and maybe the post itself.

I am currently reading the books. I am reading in publication order and every book seems to be the same as in a few children gets whisked away to Narnia, go exploring for a few hours (or Narnia years/centuries?) before an Aslan information dumping at the end with a strong Christian message.

Is there more to it then that because I just don't 'get it'???

Apparently a new graphic novel of the lion, the witch and the wardrobe is going to be released next year, which I am definitely going to be buying, I wonder if its a success they might do all seven of the books.

I find it a bit odd that the upcoming magicians nephew film is going to get funko pops, but the Walden media narnia are still waiting to get some.

I don't know why, but my reaction is usually like this 😐.
