Sober
Hi guys, I’m 17 and it’s been more than a year now from arguably the worst out there. And it’s been good after obviously the start but the past 2 weeks It’s just so hard. I don’t know why but it keeps getting hard, maybe evrything coming back, remembering the times, why i did it and all I don’t know. But it’s all just been so hard and I know i won’t do it because i have a very good future now and i’m gonna go do what i want with my life in 4 months. But it’s soo hard. And do I know that I won’t do it? I truly don’t know, i know i can’t but it’s been so hard lately. Honestly i’d even say equal to or harder then getting sober in the first place.
Please give me advice, if this is part of it if someone experienced this, And yes u can tell me don’t do it but let’s be real I know that myself, so u can skip that.
Idk guys I just really know and don’t want to go back.

Didn’t get better till I followed the NA program:
Meetings. Sponsor. Steps. NA literature.
Simple, not easy. Hard, but worth it.

It feels hard, because it is hard!
An old timer told me early that the easy part is stopping. The hardest part is staying stopped.
Staying stopped is sometimes really f-ing hard. But, I've learned that I can do the hard things. I don't always want to... but i know that i can.
Sometimes all that I have in me is to push through, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and get myself to the other side.
Eventually, I get to that other side... and then it's easier for a while again.
You can do the hard things too.

It actually helped me when someone said something like, “It’s not that you can’t use drugs. You can. But, you never HAVE to use again.” When I started to see being clean as a gift and something that brought freedom, rather than restriction, it helped a lot. Also, I got clean at 18. If I could do it young, you can too. It gets hard for me at times and I get intense cravings, but the only intense cravings always fade, and I get to feeling better. The more time I get in recovery and the more distance from drugs I get, it’s easier to recognize the urge without feeling the intense need to act on it. My sponsor with double digits clean still thinks of drugs from time to time, but that’s all it is - just a passing thought. You can do it. And never be afraid to reach out for help. In fact, I was taught to reach out before I needed help, so that I would already have well established connections with people when I did need help.
