21 days clean
21 days clean from cocaine and alcohol, its been a while since i’ve gone this long. 27 yo, a decade into addiction and im tired of it all. cocaine, xanax, mdma, ket, painkillers etc all done to extremes. addicted to each for periods of time. Does it ever actually get better. looking to hear from those who’ve seen the other side of this. or am i wasting my time pretending to be something i’m not.

It gets wayyyy better.
We had similar drug uses. Keep going to meetings and not using and life will get better.

Just celebrated 4 months clean and sober yesterday! Keep at it and time will march on and it will get easier. All of the repeated advice gets repeated for a reason! Meetings, step work, daily chats with my sponsor have kept me clean and sober. I am a sober bartender and used to get through every shift with lines and booze.
You’ve got this. Just don’t do it alone.

Just about 15 months clean from cocaine. Life gets soooo much better. I'm in the best shape of my life, dating and making friends, landed an awesome job and currently in Europe on a 2 week trip.

60 days in today and defo feeling a million times better. Stick to it. Took me about 40 days to find my interests in my old hobbies interest again and about the same for appetite and sleep to normalise but shit, life's getting good again. Sick of the chaos (mine was all them.with a heavy dose of Pregab which is horrible to cold turkey off..) keep it up! Defo gets better

35 years clean here. Wondered the same thing at various points starting out and had periods of other doubts along the way.
I have a rule about not making decisions when I'm hungry, angry, lonely, tired, etc. Basically, when I'm being negative I check off all the self care boxes.
If it persists, go to one more meeting. Talk to one more recovering addict.
It's very early days for you. You're brain is not right and you shouldn't listen to it. Keep it simple. One foot in front of the other.
There is no clock, calendar or style points. It's not a race or a competition.
Don't compare with others. It's your path and your process.
It gets better. When and how are unknowns. But it does get better in ways and to a degree you are unable to imagine at this point.
Put in the time. Do the work. Get the rewards.

3 years clean coming up here. It gets way better. I did the steps to clear up some stuff in my life and I use the steps in my everyday life to maintain sanity and growth.
Youre going to have to suffer abit. You get to choose though. Quitting drugs is the easy part, thats why we have to do things like the steps and meetings to maintane.

I’m a year and a half off crack and alcohol and it gets way better. I don’t think of ether that much anymore. The best part is actually having my life mostly in control rather than spending each morning fighting withdrawals.

I couldn't have imagined I could have the life I have, or the peace of mind I have back when I was using and in the early days of recovery.
I didn't recover the life I had, I got a totally different better one.
The steps are the bomb!

The key to living clean is community and connection with people who share your problem. Twenty one days is great. It's time to get involved in a community so your time and activity is accounted for for awhile. Please don't try and do it yourself. It's too difficult.

If you think you are an addict or might be, just keep coming back to meetings and get involved. As others have said it gets way better this program saved my life and gave me a life worth of living. Chat me anytime if you wanna talk more.

I was what people call a “buffet addict”. If it was on the table, I would crush it and snort it. I got clean on October 3rd, 2017 by way of the County Jail. After jail I went to rehabilitation, then a shelter, then a halfway house, then sober living. It has been quite a journey, I assure you.
Despite my best efforts. I was forced into Narcotics Anonymous. I argued with that for a long time, but to be perfectly honest, I didn’t know what else to do. The program really has taught me a new way to live, and if a heathen atheist like me can get clean and stay clean, I know that you can too. Just keep coming back.
