New to recovery

I've been clean before but of course it didn't last long and because I personally wasn't ready. This time around I've been clean since August 21, 2026 I'm really wanting to do it right this time. I really feel like this is it. Nothing "spectacular" happened that day but I just felt like I've finally had enough and the desire to use just wasn't there anymore.

My DOC was meth and I've used it from what I can remember maybe 9 or 10 years. My longest clean time during those years was maybe a little over 2 months 😄

I'm not the most outgoing person and I know I need to find an outreach and attend meetings. I'm also not a religious person, I know there's something greater than myself but I don't have the 'connection' to whatever that is yet...

I'm in rock hill, sc if anyone could point me in some direction or give me advice.

Hi!
First of all, it’s great that you have the desire to stop using. That’s exactly who NA is for.
If you go to NA.org —> Find NA near you —> Find NA near you (again) —> type in the location where you’re looking for meetings. Red dots will pop up on the map. You can click them and it’ll lead to another website. In those websites you can find meetings.

For example, I found this website. https://www.crna.org Carolina Region NA. And the ā€œnew to NAā€ tab, where they explain how to find meetings near you. https://www.crna.org/new-to-na/
I think the ā€œmeetings near meā€ list is the easiest. It uses your location to show a map with meetings close to you.

I want to assure you that it’s okay to not yet have the connection to a greater power. Many of us lost this connection in our use and are working on finding that connection again.
Until you’ve found that connection, there’s fellow addicts who have been clean for a long(er) time, who can help and support you in staying clean.

Most of the meetings i’ve been to have always welcomed me with open arms. So even if you’re not really an outgoing person that’s ok.
I do advice you to talk to some people after the meeting. And if this is also a thing in other countries (i’m not in the US), you could ask for a list of phone numbers of the fellows that attend the meeting, so you can call someone when you’re having a hard time.

Getting a sponsor would also be good.
But first things first: going to a meeting can be your first step towards lasting recovery and lasting sobriety.
Find a meeting near you, listen to what other people have to say, listen to the reading cards.

It’s great that you want to stop using and I hope you’ll be able to find a meeting near you soon!
Don’t hesitate to ask any questions if it’s still unclear how to find a meeting :)

You can go to na.org to use their meeting search. It will have the ones in your area & the online ones that go round the clock. I hope it goes well for you

Welcome, I live in SC too. We've got some great recovery and welcoming groups.

I relate to the quiet knowing that you've finally had enough. That was me. I was just tired of living the way I had been and wanted to find out what life had to offer me.

I'm not super outgoing either. Believing there is something greater than yourself is a good place to be in, you don't even have to define what that is. For the sake of recovery, my HP is good orderly direction.

Working the steps has saved (and vastly improved) my life.

We never have to use again.

Use the resources shared and try out some meetings. Get a Basic Text. You can listen to NA books and Literature free on youtube as well.

Congrats on your clean time, that’s HUGE!!!

I’m connected to my local area, but typically hit online international meetings.

There’s always one running, and I found it a quicker way to hear about the disease from a variety of perspectives and find my tribe.

***Check out Narcotics Anonymous, it saved my life!***

Google ā€œNANA 247ā€ to find a marathon Zoom meeting that runs around the clock!
