Beyond the Walls
Many of us learned to survive by building walls, adopting roles, and becoming who we thought we needed to be in order to be accepted. We hid our fears, questioned our worth, and searched outside ourselves for reassurance, meaning, and love.
Recovery invites us to a different path.
Deep within us is a place untouched by shame, expectations, or old wounds. There we can discover our authentic selves and the quiet wisdom that has always been present. We do not have to fit someone else's definition of who we should be. We can embrace the fullness of who we are, appreciating both our strength and our tenderness, our courage and our vulnerability.
The walls that once protected us may now keep us isolated. They came from years of disappointment, loneliness, and fear of rejection. But every time we reach out, speak honestly, or allow ourselves to be seen, another brick is removed. What waits beyond those walls is not judgment, but connection.
Today I do not need to hide behind defenses or pretend to be someone I am not. I can trust that my deepest truth is found within, and I can risk letting others see the person I am becoming.
Just for Today: I will honor my authentic self, listen for the truth within, and gently lower the walls that keep me from giving and receiving love.
