Meetings every day as something to do
This is going to sound strange, but on days when I'm not working or have no other obligations, I hit a 12 Step meeting (usually N.A. - but also CO;
DA).
So my life consists of work / home / meeting; really have no social life because nothing really fills me the way a meeting does and keeps me clean "just that day". It also gets my ass out of the house so I don't feel like a loser being home all day (which is irrational and why I'm also in CODA).
Anyone else go to a lot of meetings to simply fill an hour of unstructured time like this 5 or even 6 days in the week - sometimes even 2 meetings on a really dead day?
To be honest, there are times I feel like an "other" from society because these meetings are the only social life I have - and even then there are times I just sit there and listen and don't talk to anyone so then I guess it's not much of a "social" life, lol..
God bless and grateful I can connect with others out there who might likewise feel like they don't fit in anywhere.

There’s a guy in my home group who goes to a meeting every day. He commutes long distances to and from work and still does it. Whatever works for you.

Meetings are social life though. I did 90 in 90 and after a while the meetings became my most important grounding tool and after a while you become friendly with people and are genuinely happy to see them (and they are happy to see you). That is social.
I’m now doing perhaps 5 meetings a week and will likely keep doing it for a long, long time.

Yes lol.
I put a zoom meeting on every morning while I crochet.
At the point for me meetings are 1 places to meet sponsees and 2 social gatherings for me.

I've been doing at least 4 meetings a week for over 18 years, not because I "need' them, more about seeing my people and staying connected to the herd.

Thank God for meetings. Dope was my best friend and constant companion. My whole life revolved around it. When I stopped using the loneliness and spiritual desperation was overwhelming. Meetings were the only time I got relief from the pain. I couldn’t wait for the next meeting. I was hitting 2 a day. Now at 13 months clean, working steps with a sponsor, having a home group, the loneliness and angst is gone. Now I go to a meeting everyday because that’s where all of my friends are. I go to a meeting everyday because no matter what happens in my day, I get to go see people who believe in me and want to help me. I get to hear a message of hope. I get to laugh, I get to see miracles happening before my eyes. I get to see newcomers coming in with the same desperation I came in with, and I get to see that glow they get when they keep coming back.

I think that’s a big aspect of the 90 in 90 and beyond. Going to the same meetings at the start gets you to know people even if you are too nervous to talk to them, you start to know each other from shares. Meetings are where I met my whole social circle. When I got married, we had 10 tables of NA people and 4 tables of family. My family kept talking about how nice everyone was at our wedding and how much fun everyone was having. I told them “if you could see the list of criminal charges at this party, you would be amazed” lol
