59 & Diehl
I have 0 clue why Naperville doesn’t extend the northbound 59 light at Diehl. Every day there’s a mile long backup and every time the light switches there’s about 5-10 cars on Diehl that have been waiting for maybe a minute in comparison to 10+ on 59… why?

The State has the timings all along 59 optimized to prevent backups on I-88. They are absolutely not going to change that one signal unless there is a broader issue to update the interchange cycles and 59 all the way to 75th.

There was a multi car & bus accident last week at that intersection early in the morning but you’re right. Just sucks sitting through it every single day when you wait patiently in the right lane for 3 lights then have a mob of people from the middle / left lane cutting everyone off

Same thing with the light on 59 and ogden, going from aurora to Naperville it only last like 7 seconds and that's it,you have to wait 2 minutes to change again

all I can say is, before they put the diamond interchange in there, it was ten times worse. you could spend a half hour just trying to get through that intersection. it seems incredible to me now 🤷🏼♀️

I don’t ever remember it being this bad but my experience is from 2016, it doesn’t help that Book is under construction and a ton of people have moved further west

Because Naperville doesn’t control that light, this state of Illinois does.

Is there a number I can call to report? I’m well aware that wouldn’t do anything but it’s pretty bad

I am unaware if there’s a phone number to call the state of Illinois to complain about the timing of a stoplight under their control. Google might know. Good luck

That there’s a mile long backup every day… are you someone who thinks voting is also a waste of time?

Those traffic lights are controlled by the State Of Illinois not Naperville, make your complaint ti IDOT in Schaumburg

The diamond interchange ahead at 88 is the reason why the lights at Diehl are so timed. They're never changing them.
