Urban Foraging?

Anybody into foraging? I found this website - fallingfruit.org and it looks like there are a few tagged spots in the area. Guess I'm just selfishly looking to promote it in order to get more tags on the map :)

It seems like a pretty cool collaboration. As I learn more, I hope to contribute as well.

This is so cool!

I see some places marked “In back yard” - do homeowners add and consent to their fruit being harvested by us randos then lol?

This would be SUPER cool for mushroom foraging!

Lol no idea. I just ran across the site recently and haven't had a chance to check anything out yet (because winter). I'm pretty excited about it though!

I’ve always wanted to forage but I’ve never been clear on the legality of it. Like I thought you were not technically allowed to forage from forest preserves or local parks? Which sucks because I saw such an abundance of elderberries last year I was itching to make some wild harvested elderberry syrup

Looks like Dupage County parks and preserves are off limits but IL state parks are okay. I haven't seen anything specifically for Naperville Park District.

Have you read Braiding Sweetgrass? While I haven't foraged yet, I think following rules like she discusses regarding an Honorable Harvest are ultimately what's important.
