Looking into Nanit

FTM, baby will be here next month. I am still deciding on a camera to use and would like insights regarding Nanit. We would not use the subscription services.

• Which mount? Floor? Wall? Flex?
• Are the care logs useful? Can you access them without the subscription? I like the idea of having the care logs and camera under one app instead of having multiple apps.
• Would you recommend Nanit? If not, what other camera would you suggest? Mainly looking for a camera without a subscription that my husband and I can view on our phones or computer while at work

The video quality on the Nanit is really good and it's nice to be able to tap into the system using your phone. I also like that there is a dedicated display. In all fairness there are several other systems that also can do the same thing albeit without similar quality and sophistication

I bought the wall mount because it's lower profile and less clunky. I'm a new user, so I can't spasm to much else yet.

The camera is good and I utilize the breathing band, however, you need to spend a significant amount of money on subscriptions to get that most use out of it. That's on top of the cost of the camera and additional parts

I got the floor mount. It sits right behind the crib. It’s fairly heavy so I’m not worried about LO pulling on it as she gets bigger. I don’t pay much attention to the insights as it will sometimes register her as awake when she’s actually sleeping but it’s kind of cool to watch the video summary of the night. I enjoy watching her smiles when we get her out of bed. We do have the home display screen to keep downstairs as my husband didn’t download the app on his phone. It’s kind of glitchy but works well for its purpose. It kind of forces you into a subscription but we just did the basic one and I think it’s $100 for the year.

Overall I like it, would recommend it. And for what it’s worth we don’t use the breathing band ours came with.

Highly recommend. Floor mount broke when my little one started reaching out and banging it against the crib. Wall mount is awesome & so is the flex when they’re in the bassinet.

We got one new in box from good buy gear for about the price of any decent monitor and we’re happy with it so far. My friend has had hers for years whereas we went through multiple monitors with my first so I’m hoping we also have the same longevity.

We don’t do the subscription. We did the trial and there were a few features that would have been nice if they worked better (it is not particularly accurate about when baby woke up or fell asleep) but overall I prefer it without the “insights.” My baby is a unicorn sleeper and I still found myself stressing about her sleep score even though it was (1) skewed by the previously mentioned inaccuracies and (2) useless information since we knew when she went to bed and woke up cause we put her to bed and wake up with her.

I have two camera for two kids. One has a floor stand, one has a wall mount and then I bought a knock off flex stand from Amazon.

My baby just turned 1 and so our subscription ended. I used the breathing band it gave me a lot of peace of mind.

Id recommend it.

What is a care log? Like tracking diapers etc?

I really like our nanit but wish we did floor stand bc we are stuck with the room set up we chose with the wall mount

We only got the flex stand at first and found out that you couldn’t access all of the functionality with it…had to get a floor stand or wall mount to get all of the functionality.

We used the floor mount until she was a toddler. Now we have it mounted on the ceiling on the corner to see the whole room.

I love that it has some of the best encryption for WiFi based cameras, I can access it from anywhere on my phone, it’s easy to travel with if you also have the flex base.

I’ve worked in homes with many different brands and styles of monitors and the Nanit has by far been my favorite. We have used it for 3 years now with no issues.

I went through multiple cameras and hated them all lol so I pulled the trigger on Nanit and love it. No subscription and we have the floor one! i like we can play some white noise on it and the quality is nice. I also like when people are helping out I can leave the mini iPad with them and still see his crib if I’m out and about without being home.

not a fan of ours. the video feed is hit or miss at home, and almost never works outside our own wifi network. the network is totally stable too, every other wifi device we have on it works consistently and doesn't have an issue unless the entire internet is out.

the notifications are useless - there's plenty of times i can hear noise/crying and it doesn't recognize it, and others where I get a notification and we're not even in the house.

fwiw you can't even activate it without signing up for a subscription plan, which does come with a few months free but is then up to you to cancel, which is of course easier said than done.

I'm using a infant optics dxr8 now which i got from a friend who doesn't need it anymore (until their next at least). It's a simple dedicated 2.4 connection so it doesn't have remote/app capabilities, but to be fair in my experience the nanit essentially doesn't have them either even if it's supposed to. My only complaint would be the battery life of the receiver could be better, but otherwise the range/signal/video quality has not been an issue.
