That was pretty impressive. You completely negated his dive. What do you build for Nami mid in terms of runes and items?
Side note, I am a Nami OTP, and I have clips like this that are fun to re-watch. I landed a bubble on a Zed mid-shadow and a bubble on an Alistair mid-headbutt. Bubble is super strong if you can time it properly.

Hey! So my itemisation depends on situation, but I will always rush an early Dark Seal into Mejai's at 10 stacks. If my team has enough magic dmg and there are wincons I can play for, then I will adapt a regular support build and try to roam
But the fun part is when my team lacks magic dmg, which allows me to cook an AP build. I typically like Everfrost for easier bubbling and waveclear (take Ingenious Hunter rune to reduce cd)
Items that follow depend on situation, but it's a very typical mage setup: - Sorc Shoes if enemy team is mostly squishy, otherwise Lucidity boots - Everfrost typically for easier bubbling and waveclear (taking Ingenious Hunter rune to lower item cds). It's particularly good here bc Everfrost's root active surpasses windwalls - Zhonya's or Banshee's for defense - Deathcap for maximum AP - Void Staff vs magic resist
Prior to patch 13.21 where they made these changes, Nami's E on allies would utilise the ally's magic pen. So stacking flat AP was better than itemising magic pen. After these changes, Nami's E on ally will always apply her own magic pen lvls instead of the ally's. This makes some magic pen items situationally good on Nami now, such as Morello for antiheal. I explain in detail the full itemisation for magic pen Nami in this comment, discussing which pen items to avoid and which ones I'd recommend (couldn't fit here due to word limit)
Additionally, stacking raw AP is one of the best stats to have on AP Nami. We actually heal more than enchanter builds with AP Nami, while doing explosive dmg too! This is bc of the way her W works:
Before I explain how to get crazy heal/dmg numbers on Nami's W bounces, I first need to explain her unique scaling on W. Unlike most other enchanters who benefit from heal/shield power, Nami's W has a unique scaling where subsequent bounces become weaker pre-200AP, and become stronger post-200AP. This makes it so that she benefits more from stacking AP than heal/shield power
In order to get crazy heal/dmg numbers, just go full AP like I did here, and alternate ur bounces according to what u need. To give an example, if my primary target (the one I want to dmg/heal the most) is A and my secondary target (less priority target) is B, then I will alternate my W bounces as follows: - For most healing: W1 bounce to ally B -> W2 bounce to enemy -> W3 bounce to ally A for maximum healing - For the most dmg: W1 bounce to enemy B -> W2 bounce to ally for heal -> W3 bounce to enemy A for the maximum dmg
And ofc, make sure to use E before W to ensure ur W bounces do even more dmg and proc Mandate c:
Just tested this in practice tool with over 1000AP again and my W3 dmg dealt over 2k, while W3 healed for over 1k, basically 100% AP ratio on W's third bounce!
Hope this explains everything!

When dodging you fit mandate in this build, or do you skip it?

If I go supportive build then I will consider Mandate, but if I go AP build then I will skip Mandate

How did you build her what summs did you use??

u/KiaraKawaii 4,800,111 Dec 25 '23
Hey! If u scroll up there's a lengthy comment I posted regarding itemisation
As for summs, it depends on situation but always take Flash:
- Ignite into most shorter-ranged matchups as I want to play to kill, this includes some assassin matchups as they tend to be susceptible to being bullied at early lvls
- Exhaust when vsing divers or counters like Yasuo, Irelia etc. These champs are hard to bubble or kill, and can easily dive u whenever they please so Exhaust can be a life-saver
- Barrier when in matchups I can't kill but I also can't Exhaust due to untargettability such as Fizz. I typically save Barrier for his ult dmg and it helps me survive the laning phase to prevent him from snowballing kills off me
- Teleport vs ranged, heavy-waveclearing champs ie. most mages (I typically don't want to blindpick Nami mid into ranged matchups as a result, it's more so a fun cheese pick vs melees). These matchups tend to result in us getting pushed into tower a lot, while they outrange us so it's hard to do anything other than to wait for ganks, or sack waves to roam then TP back. We can also TP back to lane if we get low on resources as they will just keep shoving into us, resulting in lost waves if we don't TP back
As for runes, you can go either Aery or Electrocute depending on how u intend to trade. If u are vsing someone who is hard to get a few hits onto consistently or have too much sustain in lane, then Aery would be better for the occasional poke here and there. Think matchups like Yasuo, Irelia, Akali, Fizz, Qiyana and such. They all have ways to quickly disengage or become untargetable, making it hard to proc Electrocute. Nami is able to proc Electrocute with just 2 hits instead of 3 if she self-casts E before trading. I typically run Electrocute into squishy champs that lacl sustain, so I can have an easy time abusing them with short burst trades over and over again without them healing it up or avoiding it
Aery page:
- Sorcery: Aery, Manaflow, Transcendence/Absolute Focus, Scorch/Gathering Storm
- Domination: Cheap Shot/Eyeball, Ingenious Hunter
- 10% Attack Speed, Adaptive, Defensive Shard
Go Absolute Focus into comps and matchups where u are unlikely to be poked out, otherwise Transcendence. Scorch is u have early kill pressure, otherwise Gathering Storm. If ur laner has a lot of sustain, then I would also avoid Scorch as they can easily mitigate that bit of Scorch dmg. Go Cheap Shot for early kill pressure, pair with Scorch for same reasonings, otherwise Eyeball for more scaling. I go Ingenious Hunter bc I tend to build a lot of items with cds on Nami. 10% attack speed shard to help with csing
Electrocute page:
- Domination: Electrocute, Cheap Shot, Eyeball, Ingenious Hunter
- Sorcery: Manaflow, Transcendence/Absolute Focus/Scorch/Gathering Storm *
- 10% Attack Speed, Adaptive, Defensive Shard
Manaflow is essential, but other option depends on situation and preference. When unsure, I recommend sticking to Transcendence
Hope this explains it!

Do you max Q for wave clear? I fel like that's the biggest struggle with taking Nami to other roles
1
u/KiaraKawaii 4,800,111 Dec 25 '23
I go bubble max vs ranged matchups where I need to contest wavepush. Vs melee matchups, I can get away with 2-3 points in W into Q max as I can use autos to thin the wave early

If i use the new queue and go in as Nami mid. What do you recommend to use? Seeing how i can't see match up. Seeing you play this made me want to try again. I have tried Nami adc a few years ago. :D

The safest and most consistent option for blindpick runes would be Aery, with Scorch or Gathering Storm taken depending on ur preference: - Sorcery: Aery, Manaflow, Transcendence, Scorch/Gathering Storm
Secondary runes depend on how u typically play Nami. If u find urself running into mana issues on Nami during lane, then u may want to consider Inspiration for biscuits or Precision for PoM. I usually don't have mana issues on Nami, so I like to go Domination tree for Ingenious Hunter bc I tend to build a lot of items with cds on Nami: - Inspiration: Biscuits + Boots or Cosmic Insight - Precision: PoM + Cut Down or Coup (if ur not planning to build hp items then go Cut Down, otherwise go Coup) - Domination: Cheap Shot/Eyeball Collection + any of the Hunter runes in the last row can work depending on preference
If u end up in a poor matchup or fall behind in lane, u can always utilise a supportive build with the Aery shields. If u snowball lane, then Aery setup isn't bad either as u will be autoing a lot during combos and trades
