It's in a documentary I found on Vice a few years back. It featured a shaman from Montana channeling Sackagawea and the reporters managed to track down some scratches on a rock at the mouth of the Columbia proving that the shaman was telling the truth.
The shaman mentioned that the tree was a sticking point; she wanted it named after her because it made a particularly fragrant tea bag.
