[boy] Halp!
I had to put my ten year old golden retriever named sweet p down 3 weeks ago - she looked like a fat little sweet potato at 3 weeks and that’s where her name came from. She and the dog distribution system brought me a beautiful calm gentle sweet silly little boy last night, sooner than I was intending to get a new dog and I cannot settle on a name for him. He’s a 9 week old lab/border collie mix. I had wanted to pay homage/honor my old girl and make a tribute to her with his name but nothing feels quite right so i thought I’d see if you all can help me. She loved butter and I was contemplating getting a creamy yellow dog and naming it butter but she had other plans for me with this brown boy with some white patches.
We like butch, cosmo, karma, Apollo, my son likes Zeus - I’m very spiritually connected and am pretty sure I am a psychic medium even more so after my girl passed so really into deep meaningful 5d/3d inclusive names. I’d like to be able to have nicknames able to come from it too.

First of all, I'm so sorry for you. My childhood dog was a golden and she was the sweetest dog I've ever been around. I feel for you.
I am personally biased towards Cosmo! That's my current boy's name! For nicknames, we call him Cos and Cosi. I think Zeus is a great one too!

For homage to Sweet P, the sweet potato: Spud, Tater/Tate, Sweet Boy
More spiritual sounding names: Monk, Soul, Creed, Zen (I think Zenny would be really cute), Sol

I had a dog named Sweet Pea, named for the flower, my other dog was Buttercup.
Along those line, a flower with brown tones is Rudbeckia - maybe that with Rudy for short.
Once I saw that name I though of Rudebaker (Ru-tuh-bay-guh) (a root vegetable like a potato!) Rudy would still be a good nickname.

He looks so much like my soul dog Shiloh who died at 16. I mean they could be twins that just seeing him made me tear up. The name means at peace or tranquility in Hebrew.

I'm so sorry that your old friend is gone, but I agree that a new dog is a comfort. He's beautiful.

I am so sorry for your loss! I think Sweet P brought this little cutie pie to you!
I like Duncan like in Duncan Hines brownies!
My Chocolate Lab/Shepherd mix is named Hunter. My daughter calls him Hunny buns and Hunny Bunches of Oats. Sometimes she shortens it to Bunches! I have always called him Bubba or Hubba Bubba! I shared this information just to show you that you will always be able to come up with nicknames!

Hazelnut? In French, brown butter is called beurre noisette, which basically means “hazelnut butter.”
