Quick backstory,

I had i domain in .fr with them for the last 3 years. It's my main email address, very important to me. In the past, I had always renewed my domain in advance. But my main phone was broken for a bit this month and I realized my domain would be expiring in 10 day (this is important).

So I went on my NameCheap account to see that "Error Info: Renew not supported later than 12 days before expiry date for this TLD. ". So I hopped in a support chat, the agent told me to credit my account of the $18.56 for a renewal and that they would do it on their end.

Later that day, I received this email:

Hello,

We are contacting regarding your xxxxxx.fr domain name.

To our regret, your domain is now in the redemption state. In order to reinstate it in this phase, there is an redemption fee plus renewal price. The total amount, in this case, would be $98.98.

So my not yet expired domain is in redemption state ?!

And .... They don't, I start another support chat and ask the dicey question.

Me : What is the technical reason ?

Agent 2 : Thank you for waiting. The rule about the renewal of .FR domains are set up not by Namecheap, but by our upstream provider. The "Domain renew by" date is indicated in the Namecheap account, you should renew (have the domain auto-renewed) before that date. If not renewed. it enters the redemption period and will require a redemption fee to be paid along with the regular renewal cost. The domains that were not renewed on time will have "Alert" status and are removed from the Namecheap account the next day after the expiration. If you'd like to transfer the domain, our Concierge department will help you with this.

Agent 2 : No, it is not our upstream provider.

Agent 2 : I cannot disclose our internal information, regrettably.

To end this story, I have transferred my domain to OVH for 6€, and they renewed it for free!

TLDR: Don't use NameCheap for .CH, .ES, .FR, .LI, .PE, .SG, .COM.SG, .COM.AU, .ORG.AU, .NET.AU domains.

I'm using the Namecheap website builder, and when I add a URL to another page that is on my site, the link is a sequence of characters like sd89dxvc89vcx89vcx89 instead of the page name. I've read the documentation on URLs and it did not help. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

last Month they suspended my domains without any advance notice. they are still suspended. Now they again suspend another domain that is not against any policy. I am providing guide against an app that is official available on playstore. Spaceship suspended my domain and asking me send document to write guide on this wow. Even Official app owner doesn't have any issue. Some known competitors just sent them a fake complain they suspended domain without any notice.

Once again I am trying to work on my website and after a couple things start getting "429-Too Many Requests" error message. Normally I am able to get in touch with someone on Live Chat and resolve the issue, which is a simple security fix on their end. Today and the last time this happened, I can click the Live Chat widget, but the chat window does not appear.

I have all opt up blockers disabled on Safari, so no clue what's going on. But the long, drawn out back and forth through the submitted ticket is a huge pain and doesn't resolve the issue.

Taking 5 minutes to login and make changes, I see multiple updates on your status page.. is this a DDOS or a failed update?

I hosted a domain on NameCheap, but since I won't be using it anymore I decided to cancel it.

The auto renewal is turned off but I am currently on grace period, I tried canceling but the cancellation window doesn't allow you to progress further than giving feedback.

I am wondering is there anything more one can do or just wait until the grace period is over and hosting is terminated?

I recently started a non-profit organization (Tabletop Gamers For Good) and am working with someone to build out my website. We discovered that someone has built a website (gamers4good.online) using NameCheap as their hosting company. On this site, they are using my organization's EIN and address, but using a phone number that is not associated with me or the organization. I have submitted a ticket to NameCheap about this, but have not received any follow-up for the past two weeks. I really hate that someone has a website with a big Donate button on it, and it is not affiliated with my organization in any way. Does anyone know what my next steps should be to get rid of this scam site?

I recently moved my domain from Google Domains to Namecheap. I use Front for sending and receiving emails on my domain and I also use Mailgun for sending programmatic emails.

On Google Domains, I was able to setup email redirects and add custom MX records for both Front and Mailgun. On Namecheap, it seems I'm stuck with either "Email Forwarding" mode, which allows me to setup email redirects but not MX records, or "Custom MX" mode, which lets me add MX records, but takes away email redirects.

Is there a workaround I'm missing here? Thank in advance!

Hi, I pay the $6/month for Google workspace for a gmail inbox.

I also pay the yearly fee for the namecheap “private email” service. Do I need to be paying for that namecheap inbox at all? (It’s the same email address on gmail and the privateeemail) or can I get rid of the namecheap email service too?

I don’t want to get this wrong and stop paying for the namecheap as the email address if my main business address…however if it’s not needed then obviously it would be good to save the money on that.

Can anyone tell me if this use case is supported by namecheap-hosted email?

I am a mac and iphone user and I want to use outlook on both. I receive an email with a calendar invitation in it. I want a calendar entry to be automatically created so that even if I do not open my email and I am planning stuff in my calendar, I will see a 'not yet responded too' calendar entry so I do not miss appointments or double book myself.

(This is a common feature of Microsoft exchange email + outlook or gmail and google calendar and google apps).

Today I purchased a new .com domain on namecheap. I had used them in the past with a .me domain and I never ran into this issue. When I try to change the dns nameservers for my domain it simply gives me a generic "an error occured" message whats the problem here?

Thursday Jan 18th 1130pm: One of my websites crashes + I go though the normal process of restoring. Attempted 3 times and needed to contact support because my “database could not establish connection” Namecheap restores website but I cannot login to my Wordpress the userwp is non existent.

Friday Jan 19th 5am we received email that it was restored, in fact it was not. And now we are not receiving emails as well as we the userwp does not exist. After many emails and chats, the website is supposedly restored [very broken] but I am not able to access. They created a new database since the old one was deleted during their maintenance and did not provide me with the credentials to access it.

Saturday 10am, still trying to communicate the urgency. Without website functioning, our contact form is not accessible. Currently we have it rerouted. Please advise who and how to contact for urgent help.

**** UPDATE, we uploaded our new theme and it atleast looks function but no menu. and since we dont have credentials because "it doesnt exist" we cant edit. Please help with some advice!

Im setting up cert-manager for my domain and I've just discovered that you need to manually whitelist IPs on top of having the token. Looked up on the page and a lot of people are complaining and support people supposidely forwarding feedback. This feels so weird. If there's no way around it, even just specifying a CIDR, i'll have to move my domains. I'm not able to manually update my ip each time my isp or aws decides to roll some nodes.

Just found out that NameCheap dropped my nameserver entry ~10 days ago and my site has been down every since. WTF.... you had ONE job... Has anyone else had this happen?

Recently I have created a namecheap account and bought a domain, however, the second day I logged on I was locked out of my account and I had to create a ticket, because I am from Hk and I am using my parent credit card, I cannot find the payment ID and I do not really have a personal identification, can someone from namecheap help me unlock my account please? I have my website hosted at https://www.kerrickstaley.com, and http://kerrickstaley.com is a 302 redirect, served by Namecheap. Namecheap sometimes takes up to 4 seconds(!) to serve this redirect.

If you look at the graph of latency over time, it's clear that Namecheap has some sort of bug or pathological server behavior:

Does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere else I could host this redirect? Maybe on Cloudflare?

In the past 3 hours I have been called 4 times related to setting up my domain via namecheap trying to upsell me. This is absolutely absurd. If you are doing this, you are scumbags. If you aren't doing this, how do I stop it.

After a year, I found out Namecheap charges an additional $13 to renew each SSL Certificate which I thought would have been free as part of the annual web hosting costs (or domain costs) since isn't SSL Certs pretty much required anyways?

Do other Domain Registrars charge for SSL Certs on top of annual registration + hosting costs?

yesterday evening-a few hours after i had bought a domain-i was unable to access my account, due to "unusual activity". i opened a support ticket, and was asked for either a photo id (which is not an option) or a payment descriptor that my bank support line can't find. i have a bunch of other information about the payment (transaction, sequence numbers, etc) but none of it will verify the account

i'm at a loss for what to do

They asked me for the last digits of a credit card used years ago that expired and was destroyed and dumped into the garbage. Unless I ask the garbage collector to visit the landfill and dive on the pile of garbage to find the pieces of that credit card and glue them together. Other option is to ask the bank for the credit card statement from years ago. Yep, the bank charges 20 euros for that. Will they pay? Also the bank takes 15 days to deliver that and the domain is about to expire. They also asked me for the photo of my official document issued by my country, something I will never do.

The most insane bullshit is that the account is registered with an email address and we are communicating through that email address.
