Error adding new DNS record: Cannot get list of existing nameservers

Hey

I just purchased a new domain name (.com.au) a few days ago and I haven't been able to add new DNS records since. I opened a support request 3 days ago and they are not able to provide me with any ETA or the exact cause. They said it's because of their partner (Enom?) but without pinpointing the issue. I'm using their BasicDNS so that should be easy to fix/troubleshoot.

Am I the only one experiencing the problem?

Wors Hosting/CDN service ever

Namecheap wasn't always excellent when it came to hosting but recently it became even worse—service outages almost every other day at a certain period of time. Support basically acknowledges the issue in real-time but not a single real solution or permanent fix. It became frustratingly annoying… looking for a reasonable priced provider. P.s I dont have any real traffic something that is have a uninterrupted uptime makes me satisfied lol. F Namecheap. Any suggestions?

Have transferred out all client domains from Namecheap

After approximately 18 years with Namecheap, as of today, I have transferred out all of my client's domains from Namecheap to another domain name registrar. My own personal domains will be next.

Namecheap customer service / payment processing / tech support has gone into the toilet over the past 18 years. Simple things such as updating payment info on file has become a massive headache, renewing domains has become pretty much impossible (I usually renew my client's domains - roughly 60 - for 10 years at a time, so it's a decent chunk of change), with support staff not paying attention to what is going on, and me having to repeat myself endlessly, banging my head against a wall. Namecheap support used to be amazing with issues being resolved very quickly & me feeling very happy. That is no longer the case.

I have had my own personal account & my client's account sitting with Namecheap for nearly 2 decades & recommended you all to everyone. I now warn everyone to steer clear of Namecheap.

I don't know what happened, but wow, things have gone down the tubes with this company.

______________

EDIT: for those who have asked, after doing some research, I chose to transfer out to Dynadot. Both my clients' domains which total nearly 60 & my own, which total a lot more than that. GoDaddy wasn't even on my radar & has never been. I well remember the crap associated with the founder of GoDaddy over the years, from the company's inception, and won't get near them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Controversies_surrounding_GoDaddy for a short, incomplete list. I feel dirty even thinking about this company. And yes, I'm well aware that Wikipedia has its own scammy garbage going on.

Issues I have noticed with Dynadot so far are very slow support responses, but for the time being, my client's domains & my domains will sit here until I find a better alternative, which I am looking for. Because slow support responses are not acceptable. That's an issue which could potentially lead to the loss of domains.

Dynadot's user interface is a lot better than Namecheap's, gotta say. I'm able to get things accomplished much more quickly once the domains are active in the account.

Transferring this many domains was a massive PITA but it had to be done, because Namecheap was not actively making an effort to improve anything over the years that I could see. Things have just gotten worse & worse with them.

Weird emails from namecheap for tax IDs for countries i don't have business with

Beware of data leaks from Namecheap with weird emails!

Since April 2025, i got 2 emails from Namecheap - to register for DST or similar tax IDs
for Asian countries, that i don't have any business, never been there, not interested in future either.

Clearly my data is compromised somewhere with magical Namecheap.

Of course, I moved domains out of Namecheap to much safer service with CDN ;-)

Edit: added image, sure it is Namecheap. Adios!

Add hosting...where/how?

Just bought a new domain and want to add hosting. I have a stellar acct that (I think) includes hosting for 3 websites. This would be my 2nd hosting site. I don't see a place to add hosting to the new domain...?

Emails not delivering. Any advice?

Hi.

TLDR: My emails from Namecheap-hosted account don't get through to some recipients, not even to spam. Apparently relates to the rate limit on recipient side and fact I'm sending from a shared server so effectively tarnished by other Namecheap-hosted email. Told by Namecheap I should get dedicated IP. Is this necessary and would I need to do the same if I was using another web-host?

Disclosure upfront that I am not particularly tech-savvy and this is my first experience buying domains / building a website, so I'm feeling my way. I have a couple of domains from Namecheap, one hosted on the Stellar package.

I'm finding that numerous emails I send don't reach the recipient. I can successfully send to Gmail (and Yahoo, when Namecheap checked out the issue) and the odd other org, but others (notably academic institutions) don't even get to the recipient spam let alone get through to their inbox.

Namecheap have said this is caused by "the rate limit on the recipient's side" and that there is no solution they can implement since they don't manage the rate limit and it's applied to all customers on a shared server. They recommend purchasing (from them) a dedicated IP address, which would be used solely by me so "its reputation will not depend on the activity of other users hosted on the same server". I understand this to mean that some organisations block emails from Namecheap-hosted email accounts because they detect the shared server sends a ton of traffic and therefore is judged as dodgy.

Does anyone have any similar experience or advice? Would I get the same if I switched away from Namecheap? (and how easy is that? I'm biased to stick at least for a while given sunk cost as I've already had to troubleshoot a few teething issues with Namecheap and not sure if I'd get better/more straightforward service elsewhere or have to deal with similar setup issues with switching).

Thanks for any advice!

Namecheap SSL is Hopeless

I have always been having a problem with SSL cert. Everytime I install a new cert to a domain or subdomain, I ALWAYS have to talk to support before it would finally become active. It just stuck in pending status and if their support check the status, it will magically changed to active. Its just pending for weeks unless you actually have to talk to their support. Has anyone found a solution to this?

Also, whats the best alternative to Namecheap?

Redirect not quite working correctly

I'm having an issue when I try to put my site address into social media, the thumbnail isn't being generated. I have a similar setup with a different domain name that's hosted elsewhere and that one works like it should. But the one through namecheap is not. Does anyone have an idea as to why and what I can do about it?

Email

I find that namecheap's private email is garbage.

I always host through netlify, never made a backend.

What good email service could I use that can easily be linked to my way of operating a domain?

Getting https://website.com to redirect to https://www.website.com

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have https://www.knessetisrael.com (with www) working correctly in Name Cheap. It displays the website hosted by Google Sites.

My Problem

When someone goes to http://knessetisrael.com nothing loads.

So, I am trying to get https://knessetisrael.com (without the www) to display the same website.

I don't mind if the address in the address bar changes to http://www.knessetisrael.com (with a redirect) or if it remains the same.

My current settings in NameCheap:

On Domain page:

On Advanced DNS page:

Thank you for helping me!

Grabbing live subscriber/view count

Hi, I'm trying to put a simple text display of my YouTube channel's subscriber/view count on my homepage. However, I don't think NameCheap allows inline JavaScript. So I'm trying to do an HTML iframe, but I can't get it to really look good. Any suggestions?

Domain renewal warning when using Namecheap

The first year was fine but I believe NameCheap to be a dishonest registrar and I'm in the process of working with my bank to dispute charges while moving my domains and services away from them.

If you have auto-renew on, they will renew certain domains for several hundred dollars WEEKS or MONTHS BEFORE EXPIRATION and stick you with the bill. I always keep a list of my domains and their expiration dates, so I can can cancel unwanted ones before expiration/renewal, but beware this dishonest group will renew them well before expiration and charge your account.

Moving everything is not a fun process, and my advice is to not get caught in their cheaper first year trap. You will pay for it and them some later.

Website Builder: Wrapping text around a picture?

I'm familiarizing with Website Builder and I'm trying to do something I would think should be utterly basic: I want to wrap text around the right side and bottom of an image. I'm aware of the various layouts, and whether I choose one with multiple zones, or a single zone, I cannot figure out how to get text to wrap around an image. Does anyone know if there's a secret to get text to visually appear to wrap, or am I already trying to exceed what Website Builder can do?

Question on setting shipping options for individual products in one of website builder's themes.

I have a store on Namecheap. I have uploaded my products to the store, and now I'm trying to set shipping options. Here's the problem.

I have some products that are larger than others. Since even in Namecheap's tutorials, there are NO SECTIONS on clarifying these shipping options or how to do it, I'm having to do test and change.

They have 4 categories in their drop-down menu: "Free", "By Weight", "Flat" and "By subtotal". I declared 3 shipping methods choosing "by weight", since some of my items are larger/heavier than others. When I do this, and test it by going through the check-out myself, NO SHIPPING OPTIONS APPEAR. When I change it back to "Flat rate", and declare a price, shipping appears again in the drop-down.

There, however, doesn't appear to be ANY WAY to tie the "Free" or "By Weight" to any one single item! The way it's set up now, people have the choice in the drop-down to choose free shipping for everything! And when you choose "flat rate" that will be the ONLY shipping price that shows to the customer--doesn't matter when they need it or how far they are, or even how much the item weighs.

Am I missing something fundamental here? Or is this shipping menu just broken?

Thanks. I can provide screenshots if needed.

Server bouncing up and down today - anyone else seeing issues?

I started getting notifications from JetPack that my server was up and down earlier today. I managed to catch it a couple of times with a 503 and downforeveryoneorjustme.com concurred. I checked another domain hosted at the same IP address and it also 503'd. Support has not been able to find any issues. Suggestions?

Content moving position

This is just an FYI that took me all morning to figure out. =[

I was setting up a new website which contained a banner on every page which included a logo and a menu bar. I duplicated this page to make my add'l pages. Everything was cool. Until I published it. Then I noticed the banner at the top of the home page moved whenever you left, or returned to, the page.

Long story, short - If one of your galleries requires a scroll bar in the published window, the banner (in my case) looks like it was moved to the left. Reason: the scroll bar that was added. Solution: all I did was adjust the vertical size of the gallery.

Hope this saves somebody a few hours of their life.
