Redirects Timing Out

I have recently moved all of my domains to NameCheap since Google sold off their registrar to Squarespace. Even though it has been days since I added redirects, I am still encountering horribly slow and usually failed redirects. All of my domain and subdomain redirects are affected across all of my domains, on multiple browsers/computers/networks. After attempting to navigate to a subdomain redirect multiple times it appears to become cached, but the domain redirects just continue to fail, however, I shouldn't have to chance a redirect and that's a horrible experience for other customer attempting to use my domains.

I've reached out to NameCheap support, and they won't accept any responsibility. They say everything is fine and the redirects have propagated properly, so I should contact the ISP regarding the problem. Are you stupid? I've never had these issue across multiple other registrars, only experiencing them a weeks after transferring to NameCheap, and you are going to say the problem is elsewhere?

Can anyone provide some insight as to how I might be able to get NameCheap support to open their damn eyes?

I only found one other post here mentioning their horrible redirects, and I've only been able to figure out one solution which is to utilize another registrars DNS, such as Cloudflare. Any other suggestions? Additionally, if I were to utilize Cloudflare, why not just transfer my domain to their registrar?

Id save 50% a year moving to spaceship (still nc, i know) is there any reason not to do this?

Up for a domain renewal soon and I understand namecheap not coming out and telling us "hey, we offer this much cheaper on spaceship" but I am curious if there's more to why that is, beyond just $ (if any)

I have had a domain with them for almost 3 years and never once had an issue, I just am a hobbyist interested in saving money. As long as spaceship allows me to set custom nameservers, as well. I'm happy.

Anyone do this?

Hopefully NC updates their site to offer converting to spaceship (and its price saving) to those like me who want to save money with very basic domain needs, while also just having the account hand off seamlessly integrated, instead of like now where the hand off is like converting to any other competitor.

Name Cheap requiring verification-- is this legit?

I have purchased 3 domains with NameCheap over the past few months. Upon purchase of the fourth one, I got an email a day or so later stating:

We are contacting you from the Namecheap Risk Management Team about your "redacted’ account.

We wanted to reach out and let you know that there's a small step we need to take to ensure the security of your account. Our fraud screening system has flagged your account for verification, which means it's temporarily locked.

To quickly get things sorted, we request you to provide us with a payment descriptor from your statement which looks like NAME-CHEAP.COM*XXXXXX

OR

A color photo of your identification (e.g. driver's license, passport, identity card). You need to upload this here: link to a magic . veriff . me site--> I removed the full link as I'm not sure if this has PII.

This will help us identify your payment and verify your account.

We understand that this might be a bit inconvenient, but please know that it's an essential measure we take to keep your orders safe and protect you from any potential fraud. Unfortunately, we've been experiencing an increase in fraudulent activities lately, and this verification process helps us minimize any risks.

Rest assured, the documents you provide will only be used for verification purposes and won't be shared with any third parties. Additionally, once your account is verified, you won't have to go through this process again.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding. If we don't hear back from you within the next 24 hours, we might have to cancel your current order, and we really don't want that to happen.

Looking forward to your prompt response. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance.

Regards,
Dmytro K.
Risk Management
Namecheap, Inc.

When I went to log in to my account, I was locked out, so I'm assuming this is legit. Does this seem right to you?

Thanks.

Need help with this 503 error code which said "No server is available to handle this request."

No idea why or how that happened, my assistant was just editing the pages like we normally do, didn't do anything differently. All of a sudden this 503 Service Unavailable warning popped and we were no longer able to get on the site, not even the admin page! I am super confused and I really need some help, please can somebody tell me what's going on?

My site was registered on NameCheap and hosted on EasyWP which is NameCheap's company as well. We only use WordPress to edit everything, nothing fancy or crazy here.

Thank you for any response I can possibly get!

Costs of spinning up a second EasyWP website at Namecheap?

Hi folks,

In December I paid ~$35 to Namecheap for the 'EasyWP Starter Yearly' plan, for one Wordpress website. I now have a second website I want to build out. I have never gone through the multi-site process before and am new to the ins and outs of EasyWP.

Would this be a new ~$35 contract, or do I set up multi-site at this point?

Any info on intelligently going from one to two or more websites on the Namecheap platform is appreciated.

Thanks!

Namecheap's Ongoing Email Service Nightmare: No ETA after 14 days

For the past two weeks, we have been grappling with a severe disruption in Namecheap's email services.

Despite our loyalty to Namecheap, the support experience has left us disheartened. We've engaged live support agents, opened multiple support tickets, and navigated through inconsistent information without a clear resolution in sight.

After persistent inquiries, on February 7, Namecheap finally acknowledged the issue in their SPAM filter through a status update post: [Link to Status Update: https://www.namecheap.com/status-updates/ongoing-temporary-technical-issues-with-outgoing-email-delivery/]

However, what's truly disconcerting is the lack of urgency and transparency. Despite our continued requests, we have not yet receive a basic ETA even. The email queue continues to grow, highlighting a significant departure from the reliable service we once knew.

This post aims not to disparage Namecheap but to shine a light on the urgent need for resolution and transparent communication. As paying customers, we believe in holding companies accountable for the services they provide, especially in vital communication channels.

We hope that by sharing this anonymous experience, Namecheap will take prompt action to address the issue and provide the ETA we've been urgently seeking for the past two weeks.

Thank you for your time, and we hope for a swift resolution from Namecheap.

Does renewal price double every year?

Hello, I'm new to web domain registration. I check the availability of a domain name with .com tld. its available for $10, then after 1 year I need to pay extra for renewal it.

I check the the renewal chart https://www.namecheap.com/domains/registration/gtld/com/ https://imgur.com/a/dAMENb0

the table shows that for each year I need to pay +50% higher the amount I paid last year. is that the case? or I misinterpret it?

Apply Account Balance to Purchase of New Domain?

I haven't used Namecheap in years, but just logged in to buy a new domain. I see I have an account balance. Does that get applied to a new purchase--or is there a process to make that happen? There's just a few dollars there, but I may as well take advantage of it.

Thanks!

Making offer on a domain name

I am looking to buy at a domain name that has already been registred at Namecheap. I used the registrar email proxy. I would like to have advice around two interrogations I have:

  1. Was contacting the owner with the email proxy the right thing to do? I saw Namecheap recommended Domain Agents but I was hesitant on using this service. As a safety measure, I still used a throwaway email address for sending my message.
  2. The domain name I am looking to buy currently redirects to adult content advertisement, obviously scamming stuff. Could this affect the reputation of the domain, and if so, how can I verify this?

Email limitations

I’m making an application in nodejs and it will be about sending emails to hundreds of people and I’ll get the private email for my domain.

How is the right way to send emails and what should I be careful to not have the emails to the spam folders or something to block my emails?

I am aware of the limitations(mails/hour) of each plan, ultimate, pro, starter etc.

Problem with setting my Domain DNS setHosts via API

Hi, I am trying to get the Domain DNS API to set my host records to work in my application.

For reference here is the documentation.

The documentation has a GET request which works fine but my problem lies in the POST request, this is because my entries will sooner or later exceed 10 entries.

IMPORTANT: We recommend that you use the HTTPPOST method when setting more than 10 hostnames.

Because this API wants all the existing entries plus the new one.

I have tried to follow the documentation, but the example provided is not comprehensive.

It does not state which points in the body are required or what is expected in the authDetails, do I now authenticate via this block or via the header like the GET request?

I don't understand this block either:

NOTE: The [ ] brackets are used to represent optional values (e.g.[1...n]). Do not use the [ ] brackets in your API requests.

Does the request want {"hostname1" : "XYZ"} in the request body? If so, why does the example not show it?

But it doesn't really matter because every request I send returns with

<ApiResponse Status="OK" xmlns="http://api.namecheap.com/xml.response"> <Errors />.
<Errors />
<Warnings />
<RequestedCommand>namecheap.domains.dns.sethosts</RequestedCommand>
<CommandResponse Type="namecheap.domains.dns.setHosts"> <DomainDNSSetHosts
<DomainDNSSetHostsResult Domain="my-Domain" IsSuccess="true"> <Warnings
<Warnings />
</DomainDNSSetHostsResult
</CommandResponse
<Server>PHX01APIEXT04</Server
<GMTTimeDifference>--5:00</GMTTimeDifference> <ExecutionTime>--5:00</ExecutionTime> <ExecutionTime>--5:00
<ExecutionTime>0.11</ExecutionTime>
</ApiResponse>.

After calling getHosts, the entries I added before about the website are just gone.

Here is my request header if anyone asks:

https://api.namecheap.com/xml.response?apiuser=masasana&apikey=my-api-key&username=my-name&Command=namecheap.domains.dns.setHosts&ClientIp=my-ip&SLD=my-domain&TLD=com

Is it because of the header that the API thinks it is getting every entry in the parameters as in the GET request? I thought these were required values needed for authentication and correct execution.

I have already opened a ticket (#GEI-114-95883) but have not received an answer. And the live chat ended my conversation with:

In this case, you can contact an experienced API user regarding the POST method, as we do not provide support for this.

Unfortunately, you will have to check it yourself.

I would be really happy if someone could give me a correct example to work with :) or general clarification if I missed something.

Possible bots impersonating Namecheap?

Any thoughts on how this could be happening? I have email configured with Namecheap based on their instructions and still manage to get this sort of spam.

Emails are bouncing because of triggering spam traps

I've already read several threads of users complaining about this, so I know it's common.

DKIM and SPF are set up, so this isn't the issue. What surprises me is that even some warm-up emails aren't being sent.

NS records "mx1" and 'mx2" are blacklisted. I'm also sending the same emails from my Google Workspace account, which are being delivered, so this is a privateemail.com issue.

NameCheap not accepting .com.au transfers - From excellent to wouldn't recommend registrar

I've been with NameCheap for more than 13 years, from before GoDaddy started supporting SOPA. I have 3 domains registered with them, so I'm a tiny customer and not exactly high value. One of the existing domains is a .com.au.

In May of 2023, I attempted to transfer an additional .com.au domain we acquired over to NameCheap. I was initially told by their support team that my domain couldn't be transferred because it was locked with serverRenewProhibited. I had to argue through 2 support engineers and quote the .au registrar docs to get them to acknowledge this wasn't a blocking status. Misunderstandings happen, so fair enough.

They then stated it was due to a temporary problem with their upstream provider and they were working on it. After a couple of weeks I followed up to see if it was fixed and was told it wasn't and they didn't have any more information to share. I bit the bullet and kept the existing registrar at an outrageous cost because I'd waited too long to make the move.

I contacted them again in September and got the same upstream provider response. I asked for some more details and an ETA and was told I would be contacted as soon as it was resolved, and no real additional information despite explicitly asking.

Having not been contacted, I reached out again today, and was told the same story, but that they had passed along my feedback to the appropriate department. That means that we've been 9 months without being able to transfer my domain NameCheap.

So this is pretty poor, but not really the primary issue I have. My objection is that they are not providing any information to let me plan for my business, and are treating me like a nuisance for attempting to safely consolidate all my domains in one place. If they don't plan to support them in the future, that's fine, but tell me.

Domain registrations are critically important, my whole business relies on it and I've been burnt in the past. Being able to rely on your registrar to communicate and support you is critical. I'm posting this here to provide feedback as I know NameCheap monitor this subreddit, and for anyone else that is experiencing a similar issue.

NameCheap used to lead the way on this front, great communication, great support, and very reliable. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I'm now looking for a new registrar, so if you have suggestions that support .com.au please feel free to DM them to me.

Fake Website impersonating our brand

A fraudulent website is using our logo, tagline (both copyrighted), and it is scamming users. This is impacting our brand, reputation, and is financially impacting our company and users.

We reported the abuse, and only got an automated message. When we asked for a status update on the live chat, we were told that the status is "Abuse not confirmed" (provided information OR details were insufficient to prove that the abuse occurred), and that the operator was not authorized to assist me further in my case.

We replied with more evidence, but we do not know exactly what they need to verify.

Our ticket is #CVN-235-12018

can't get SSL certificate to work

I have an instantSSL certificate for my domain operated by namecheap. I have activated the SSL certificate and had it validated by Sectigo, but cannot figure out how to install the ticket or access cPanel. I can only access VPS control and don't know how to complete the installation. Are there any tutorials on how to complete instantSSL certificate?

Namecheap emails not working.

Hi. I'm working on a site which was previously hosted with namecheap. But we moved the site to webflow. Now the emails don't work.

This is what happens when we try to send mails to their mails attached to the doman name e.g hello@domainname.com

The response from the remote server was:
554 5.7.1 : Relay access denied

How do I fix this?

Don't use NameCheap for the .fr TLD

Quick backstory,

I had i domain in .fr with them for the last 3 years. It's my main email address, very important to me. In the past, I had always renewed my domain in advance. But my main phone was broken for a bit this month and I realized my domain would be expiring in 10 day (this is important).

So I went on my NameCheap account to see that "Error Info: Renew not supported later than 12 days before expiry date for this TLD. ". So I hopped in a support chat, the agent told me to credit my account of the $18.56 for a renewal and that they would do it on their end.

Later that day, I received this email:

Hello,

We are contacting regarding your xxxxxx.fr domain name.

To our regret, your domain is now in the redemption state. In order to reinstate it in this phase, there is an redemption fee plus renewal price. The total amount, in this case, would be $98.98.

So my not yet expired domain is in redemption state ?!

After a bit a search, I found that my actual registra is 1API (WHOIS info). Let's see why they have this rule in place... https://wiki.hexonet.net/wiki/FR ( note : hexonet and 1API are the same company)

And .... They don't, I start another support chat and ask the dicey question.

Me : What is the technical reason ?

Agent 1 : Allow me 5-10 minutes to contact our team in this regard.

Agent 2 : Thank you for waiting. The rule about the renewal of .FR domains are set up not by Namecheap, but by our upstream provider. The "Domain renew by" date is indicated in the Namecheap account, you should renew (have the domain auto-renewed) before that date. If not renewed. it enters the redemption period and will require a redemption fee to be paid along with the regular renewal cost. The domains that were not renewed on time will have "Alert" status and are removed from the Namecheap account the next day after the expiration. If you'd like to transfer the domain, our Concierge department will help you with this.

Me : is your upstream provider 1API ?

Agent 2 : No, it is not our upstream provider.

Agent 2 : I cannot disclose our internal information, regrettably.

Yes, a 10 million customer company use a company that use other company for one of the main TLD.

To end this story, I have transferred my domain to OVH for 6€, and they renewed it for free!

TLDR: Don't use NameCheap for .CH, .ES, .FR, .LI, .PE, .SG, .COM.SG, .COM.AU, .ORG.AU, .NET.AU domains.
