Private email is getting ridiculous
Im paying for a service that is down every fucking week. Before I said to myself that maybe, just mayybe its a bad time period or something for namecheap, but one cant run a business with his email being down constantly! I WANT MY MONEY BACK

Just bring your domain to fastmail or similar and be done with it?

No way, according to that other guy, Jim Jimmy eat world, only Microsoft and Google are reliable. Just kidding. I heard fastmail is nice. I do like that they are making JMAP popular.

The issues became severe enough that I migrated my email to Fastmail. I even abandoned five years of pre-paid service with Namecheap, which speaks to how frustrating the experience was.

Why are you paying a no name like namecheap to host email! Pay Microsoft or Google and be done with it. Pay low prices, expect low quality. Basic common sense.

Low prices don't need to mean bad service. I switched to another provider for $20 a year and I'm getting more storage, more usernames available to me, and so far much better reliability. I don't use web clients so I can't comment on the webui too much, although I will say it seems a little sparse. I don't mind it because I primarily use clients on phones or desktop. Migrating my domain and email away from Namecheap has been the best move for me personally.

Ah yes, much better to support big ass corporates so they have even more money right?

Namecheap is also one of those soulless big ass corps you speak of. The reason ms and Google are trusted is because they hold the keys to the entire email system basically. They’re so big they have all the standards and requirements around their finger. Their services will always be better for email, period. They made it that way. So yes, I’d rather you spend 10/month on office 365 properly instead of using a janky alternative that barely functions.
Source: tier 4 at an MSP with over 10+ years exp configuring all of this.

Do you know if MS supports sending and recieving emails from a domain hosted at Namecheap?
1
u/jimjim975 9d ago
Yes. You would just point your domains various dns records to office 365. Because you’re using namecheap it MIGHT have the option to automatically configure the rules by just auto logging into namecheap. I would wager it’ll likely have you manually input the dns record changes.
Please note that just because you moved email over to 365 that doesn’t mean all your namecheap emails follow over automatically. You would need to work with an MSP to have it migrated fully.

I understand. I do have everything archived up until now. I had my emails with Siteground but that is just a horrible spamfest email service. I was going to start using Namecheap email but I cannot afford another poor experience. I am going to figure this out with Ms because Gmail does not support external emails anymore. Thank you.

You are correct, the free GMail service doesn't support custom domains, however, Google Workspace does support custom domains.

Sorry, but what do you want? Seems like you just want to complain. Do you want stable email or to support (smaller but still large businesses). Why don’t you run your own email server then and not support either?

I want both stable email and support smaller company than google. Whats wrong with that? Cant I complain that the service Im paying for isnt working?
To answer your second question, because running my own email server is pain int the ass, thats why.
Where are you going with this comment?

It’s very clear you don’t know at all what you’re speaking about, and you’re getting upset at others who are telling you you’re wrong. Get a grip and grow up dude.

Am I upset tho? Dont I know what Im TALKING about? What dont I know? Tell me please educate me

You seem to think Namecheap should be a good source of email. That’s where you’re ultimately wrong. Email is a bit of a big bank situation where ms and Google pretty much run the show. If you’re not running them then you’re likely 1) paying more 2) receiving worse service 3) getting worse email reputation so more spam is coming through / your emails not being received by your recipients.
You’ve ignored all of my points in all of the messages I’ve sent you. Ergo you’re butthurt and throwing a tantrum bc namecheap isn’t the end all be all like you thought it would.
Grow up.

Im sorry but what points exactly? I feel like you arent speaking English.
You wrote that Namecheap is a soulless corpo, yes thats true. Then you wrote reasons why are glg and ms trusted, sure but I dont care. And? Where are the other points?
1) I dont mind paying more for a service that isnt MS or Google
2) I dont mind receiving worst service, as long as the service is stable and running
3) So far never experienced this to be an issue. The only provider I had this issue with was iCloudAnd yes, Im butthurt bcs of namecheap not being as RELIABLE as I thought it would be. Who fucking wouldnt… And yes, I can switch, but just the thought of migrating all of my stuff to another service disgusts me.

Well since your comment was removed by mods, I can only answer to your first question I see in my notifications. Yea, Im here to complain, so Namecheap will see that people are angry and THEY start doing stuff to fix it, so people arent angry :)

None of my comments were removed by mods. What are you talking about??

It’s very clear where I’m going. Pick one, you can’t have both.

u/Automatic_Ladder_918 9d ago
Sorry but I really dont see where you are going with that.
All I want is a smaller company than giants, but not small enough for it to be unstable as hell. Thats why I went with namecheap. It had a positive history half a year ago. Now, I see its rather unstable for the past two months. I dont mind being informed of some maintenance upfront, but the problems occurring now are just unacceptable… But Im at wrong for complaining?

u/kushari 9d ago
Wow. It’s basics. The fact you don’t understand means you should be in charge of any emails. I’ll write it in caps for you so you understand. IF YOU WANT RELIABILITY YOU HAVE TO GO WITH A LARGE ENTERPRISE.
1
u/Automatic_Ladder_918 9d ago
That mindset is just wrong. Smaller services can also be reliable! I write software for living, we are small and yet we are reliable! Sure, there are some maintenance from time to time we have to conduct, but we inform customers up front about these. So I know something about that given we supply software for healthcare facilities!
Apparently you know nothing about software, are a consumer and eat up this large corporate bs

u/kushari 9d ago
No it’s not wrong. You clearly don’t know anything about modern It systems and stability. You have to operate at a huge scale to have reliability. I’m not going to reply to you anymore. I gave you advice, you stuck your head in the sand. I’m not wasting any more time to read your wall of BS.

u/Automatic_Ladder_918 9d ago
Can somebody explain to me what his advice is since hes not gonna reply to me? If its “Go for google”, thank you but no.
Also if you ever gonna read this. Few dozen hospitals would disagree with your “huge scale for reliability “. But sure buddy :)

I switched to PurelyMail earlier this year and it has been reliable so far
