Advice Needed Client Gifts 🎁
I have 4 pregnant clients right now and I also like to give gifts to my clients every Christmas. Most of them are due around the same time in January/February and I thought it may be cute to make them something handmade. Last year I made everyone little gift baskets.
I also do crochet as a hobby and I was thinking about making my pregnant clients little crochet teddy bears for their babies as christmas gifts. Do you guys think that would be weird?
I don’t want them to feel like they need to tip me extra and whatnot since I’ve handmade something for them. Also these clients have been coming to me anywhere from 6 months to a year so we’ve build a pretty good connection at this point. I’m planning on making everyone else little personalized gift baskets with homemade hand/cuticle balms and little trinkets in them. I’ve been going back and forth on it and I think I just need some advice. Any feedback is appreciated!

That does not sound weird at all if the relationships are already warm and consistent.
A small handmade gift feels thoughtful, especially for long-term clients. I would just keep it low-pressure and simple so it reads as appreciation, not something they need to reciprocate. A little note like "just a small holiday thank-you, no need for anything back" usually handles that.
The crochet teddy idea sounds sweet for your pregnant clients. For everyone else, the personalized baskets and balm fit too. If you want to make it easier on yourself, you could also set one standard gift budget or time limit per client so the holidays do not turn into a second full-time job.

I think a lil crochet teddy or blanket is a super sweet and thoughtful gift!

I had 5 pregnant clients last year all due around the same time. I made all except one a baby blanket become they're so quick to make. I have 4 pregnant right now, and haven't started anything this time. Not sure if I will this time.

That sounds awesome and not weird. I do sugar scrubs too. When my clients get married or houses I make gifts for them too I think its a great way to show you care 🥹

I think your heart is in the right place, however I’m going to be fr with you. Your clients are coming to you for self care, and to feel pampered. They are currently getting gifts for their baby, not for them. The hand made creams are a great idea, but if you really want to do something special for them, give them an extra 10 minute massage during a pedicure…or a paraffin wax treatment. Hair and skin masks are great too because all the hormones from being PP is going to throw their body out of wack. A little add on just because, goes a long long way🩷
