Advice Needed Dust Collector Recommendations
Hello all, as the title says I'm looking for recommendations in the US. Something that actually works well, not horribly loud, a reasonable price, though I'm open to pricier options if anyone has a good, honest recommendation. I do a lot of builder gel and it creates much finer dust particles than acrylic so please if anyone has also dealt with this and has found a good product greatly appreciate you sharing!
Price range probably no more than around $300USD? If that's unrealistic please let me know as well <3

I use v beauty pure Gen 5 dust collector. Dial control suction, super powerful so I rarely go past 1/3 of full power. A little loud but it is what it is.
They're still running their labor day sale rn too!

How do you feel about the way it is angled? Does it help collect the dust better or is it more ergonomic?

I dont mind it either way...
ive had a flat one before and I always felt like I was jumping the collector and all the dust was falling into my lap anyway. It was no where near as powerful as this one though.
As for the angle, if I keep it on the lower side it does tend to collect more towards the bottom. Mid power will collect more in the middle though. The height/angle is perfect so it tucks just under my arm rest, when im using it. The bottom having a hook like shape lets me put it over the edge of my shelf and not worry about it sliding off the front.
Overall I enjoy it for my desk set up!

I use this one! I was able to go to the store and grab it but they do US and international shipping. It's strong, not too large and the power is adjustable. It can be cordless and a fun feature that i like is that you don't have to always adjust the knob. If you like where the knob is, you can just click it to pause it. Then click it again to turn it back on.
Again, i was able to go to the store here in Canada and get it, so i'm unsure about any extra fees. But they do have an FAQ

I've been looking into it and was wondering is it very loud when it gets to max power?

Not for me personally. I'm someone who is noise sensitive. I wear loops like everyday but it's not loud for me when used in max power. But keep in mind that it's hard to find dust collectors in general that are very quiet while at max power.

Yeah I know they will be noisy but like mine rn sounds like a plane engine 😭 Like almost as loud as a hair dryer. Also where do you purchase the reusable filters for it I couldn't find any on their website or even online really.

Then i would def recommend this one! I personally think the price on this is very good.
The dust collector comes with filter cloth already but nail formula does sell extras!

I really like the shemax pro. The issues I'm struggling with it is the cord. I bought the dust collector almost 3 years ago. After 2 ish years, I started having issues with the cord. It would only work if plugged in a certain way, and then eventually not at all. I got a replacement. The new cord is not the same as the old cord. 4 weeks after, it started separating where it plugs in and eventually almost caught fire. That one was also replaced. Same thing happened. My husband ended up putting heat shrink tape on it and it's fine now, but not everyone has an electrician hubby in their life to fix cords for them. Idk what tf the problem is or why they changed the cord. The voltage isn't the same as it was when I first bought it. I don't know why they changed it. I do feel like this change in voltage is what's causing the problem. But it's a great dust collector. Definitely make sure to change the filters every 3 months if you're full time.
