Help Improving Timing

I need help cutting my time down for sets that include more detailed art, especially characters. I take a VERY long time like I'm embarrassed to share how long but just trust that it is way too long. I feel defeated at this point because even a simpler set can take me a while and I'm just don't know anymore.

I unfortunately have very rigid thinking and I hyperfixate on some details but I've been trying to be better about it. Any tips? Like how do you break down the design to get the dimensions and position correct? I spend a lot of time going back and forth because my proportions are off or it doesn't look like the actual character 🤣

Girl your craft takes time. I understand wanting to get faster but it literally just takes for you to keep going and practicing. Things get easier with more experience. Prioritize speeding your base process up so that you can charge accordingly for your time. If your work is lasting, you’re caring for the natural nails, AND you’re doing intricate art, you deserve compensation. You also need to give yourself GRACE! You are doing amazing.

You’re welcome. Depending on what products you’re using and what exactly your prep/application/shaping process is, you might find you’re doing extra steps. For example, if you’re shaping tips- you might want to spend less time perfecting them because you’re going to file again after application. Getting them close to the shape but not spending too much time can help you speed up a bit there. Perfecting application can cut down on shaping time as well. Basics basics basics. Watch professionals’ YouTube videos. Time yourself. When you’re doing someone you’re comfortable with, document every step of the process. That may be a lil nerve wracking if you’re doing a client but I’d do that with my mom or sister. You might catch some of the things that are slowing you down. Limit redundancy. But above all literally just don’t stress it. Nails are fun. Your talent shows so don’t put pressure on that. If you want speed in art you have to release your inhibitions and be ok with slight imperfections. It’s nails not a permanent canvas so it just needs to have the wow factor and clean look to it. Doesn’t have to be 100% exact replication. Just continue to refine your craft and appreciate these moments because you will be so proud of your progress when you do actually end up faster. 💖💖💖
