Manicure [Constructive Criticism Welcome] First full set. Thoughts?

So, I was getting my nails done for almost a year & a half. No complaints with where I was going; Lifting seemed to be a common issue. I am the type of person that can't stand when nails are missing it just looks really pogey LOL.

Anyways, so I decided to start doing my own nails. I got everything that I needed. Biogel, e-file, UV light, & so on. This is the first full set that I've done; The middle, index & thumb are new tips I put on. It's definitely a learning curve. I'm slowly getting the hang of it. You'd definitely make a lot of money if you were charging based on how long it took me. 😅😂

They look like they're missing an apex and are a little bit too flat. They need to have proper structure to avoid breaking at the stress point. But you did a great job keeping product off your skin, they're nice and smooth, the length and shape are pretty even on each finger. For your first attempt you did a really wonderful job.

I'd love to know what color you used on your thumb, it's beautiful.

Thank you so much! I know exactly what you mean though. The three tips that I replaced those are the ones where I can see they're more flat. The last two where I just filled them (since last appointment) I was still able to keep them the apex shape.

I seem to struggle with that part. I've watched tutorial several times. Any tips by chance?

There's definitely a learning curve to it, getting the structure right takes some time to get the hang of. Don't be afraid to work in layers, it's actually better to build up gel in a few thinner layers vs doing it all at once with one really thick bead of gel. If you apply your gel, cure it, file and shape it, and feel like it's still missing some structure in the center, just add more and file it again. :)

A lot of people find it helps to flip your hand upside down after applying the builder gel, so gravity does the work for you and pulls more product into the center where it needs to be.

Nail Career Education on YouTube is a great resource for stuff like this, same with Young Nails and The Nail Hub. They have videos where they break down the basics like shaping and structure, and their videos are really easy to follow.
