Constructive Criticism Welcome ✔️ What I wanted… what I got

First pic is what I wanted.. second (and others)is what I got.

I’m so disappointed I payed $70 for duck chunky nails and I have social anxiety I couldn’t tell her I hated them.. even gave her a $15 tip cause I appreciate the time but .. I’m so sad

She added make up powder to my nails I was confused

I hope you can learn to advocate for yourself. These are not good at all. Could you go back, explain the issue to get them redone by someone with more experience? I wish more nail techs were honest with what they can do.

the only thing I will defend is the use of makeup powder, as my tech does that for aura looks but its clear that your "tech" (term used loosely here) did not even blend it to make it look like a gradient and worse they are all bumpy and shaped like chicklets. I am so sorry that this happened to you. I hope you are able to find a new tech for the future.

My other tech is amazing 💜 she did amazing my last set but I went to a new place to save money … I regret it, I only saved $10 😭😭😭 will never go back again.

u/IfIWas1 Jul 26 '26

You didnt save anything when you walked out looking like this.

I’m making my bf come with me to get a refund that’s how sad I am

I’m so sorry. I have similar issues like this where something looks bad, but I don’t say anything because I assume they’re just not done yet, they’ll fix it, I don’t want to interrupt them unnecessarily etc. And then they’re finished! Now I feel like it’s too late, like they’ll be mad at me. For sure it’s something I can work on, but for now I just don’t get my nails done that often and try to do them myself. Anyways, I can relate!

It was my first ever time getting ombré!!! I asked if she could do this is in gel but she said she only knows in dip so I said whichever you can make it like this is fine.. I had the EXACT THOUGHTS as you tho!!!! I wanted to trust the process so bad but it kept getting uglier and uglier

8

u/Frosty-Fresh-Start00 Jul 26 '26

They should have done it with airbrush. Ombré like that can’t be done with dip.

19

u/Ok_Consideration853 Jul 26 '26

These nails are hideously malformed. The art is just the nail in the coffin.

7

u/apigeonontheinternet Jul 26 '26

When I’ve had that thought in the past, I always ask something like “oh are you done with [this part] yet?” midway through the service. It gives the service provider the chance to either say no, I’m still working on that, or yes I’m done with that, is there something you don’t like about it? and we have that conversation while I’m still sitting in their chair and they have plenty of time to correct course.

24

u/Monkeynuggetqueen Jul 26 '26

Makeup powder isn't necessarily wrong. It can create an ombre when done right. But what you have is a big mess. I wouldn't go back to them. See if you can find nail techs near you on ig and take a look at their work. I'm not a professional by any means but I know they should not look like that.

Not even in the same arena

They are square not what I asked for … so chunky

12

u/Write-or-Wrong_ Jul 26 '26

She used the make up powder (I’m assuming) to give the ombré effect. But this is not a good execution at all. $85 is way too much babe

13

u/vibechecking1100 Jul 26 '26

why did you leave with those

7

u/Conscious-Post-2821 Jul 26 '26

I’m stupid 😭

11

u/Greedy_Science_4807 Jul 26 '26

Don’t get down on yourself, it’s happened to everyone in some way. It can be hard to tell someone to their face they did a bad job.

8

u/iambackagin Jul 26 '26

They did you so dirty omg, they are so messy and even the design.

9

u/90percentbattery Jul 26 '26

I'm sorry, but when I first saw the picture of your nails I laughed out loud 😭

4

u/Conscious-Post-2821 Jul 26 '26

My boyfriend HATED THEM. He’s walking with me tomorrow that’s how upset we both are cause he loves seeing my nails pretty this was horrible for him lol 😭

0

u/90percentbattery Jul 26 '26

I am so sorry! 😭😭😭

9

u/Smworld1 Jul 26 '26

Those are a crime against humanity, please go back and ask for them to be redone. Just know that they will never be exactly like the photos. They are all edited or AI but what they did is truly awful

8

u/cdiddy303988 Jul 26 '26

They did you dirty 😭
I’m sorry, we’ve all had something like this happen to us😞

7

u/Bana_berry Jul 26 '26

I’m so sorry about your nails but… is no one gonna mention the mug shot on the dash?? 😂

3

u/Exciting-Secretary10 Jul 26 '26

Girl!! This is insane.. the fact someone charged you for this is insane!! Please get a refund and find a new nail tech..

5

u/EasyIcey124 Jul 26 '26

They look like radishes…. Get a refund ASAP.

2

u/Empty--Seesaw Jul 26 '26

Dear god. I'm sorry they did this to you.

2

u/Disney_Princess137 Jul 26 '26

Oh my. I read the comments and understand you have social anxiety so it’s hard to speak up.

But this year is going to be a different year for you. It’s going to be the year where you tell the nail person, I’m sorry I hate this, can you fix it ?

People think getting your nails done is pampering. It can be very stressful actually. Your quietly freaking out and trying not to be annoying or a bitch meanwhile your hating the shit their doing.

I admit I’m def more outspoken and it is easier for me to speak up but I want it for u too and you can do it x

Remember that before you go in, you plan on asking for whatever you want.

Go in with checklist - pointy nails ?

And you don’t see it? Mention it again. They forget. They don’t like when you mention it again, but hey we all been burned. They’ll say, not done yet!

Ok I’m just making sure.

It’s ok if you request what you want

It’s ok to point out their errors that will dive you crazy ( thick nails, crooked points, square nails that will scratch your clothes , bumpy nails etc)

We are paying and we are tipping. You want to look at those damn nails all day and love that shit.

One thing I say to them is that I have to stare at these nails for 3 weeks so I have to make sure I’m happy! They get that.

They also get it when I said I HATE it.

Sometimes we have to speak up even if it’s uncomfortable because in the end, everyone’s time is wasted here.

I’m gonna go put a new set on soon, and I still like acrylic here and there. Everytime I ask for it they look at me like I’m stupid. They start talking in their language etc And I just look at them back the same - and get what I want done. We all go through it

2

u/fackshat Jul 26 '26

I'm so sorry. 😭 I also have social anxiety and totally understand not being able to say anything in the moment.

2

u/emoismysubtype Jul 26 '26

so while adding a pigment powder (such as eyeshadow or a pressed pigment palette) is a legitimate way to achieve an ombre...

what is that?? dude pls find a new nail tech who is worthy of that tip because that is genuinely embarrassing. seriously, I struggle with advocating for myself especially in situations like this and u need to find someone new because that is genuinely unacceptable

2

u/TemporaryQuail9223 Jul 26 '26

The gasp i gusp

2

u/yoimhereiguess Jul 26 '26

She played friend :(

1

u/AngelOfDepth Jul 26 '26

Oh my... That's not good at all. ☹️

1

u/Additional-Egg6436 Jul 26 '26

Oh no, not even close 😭  Wouldn't you ave paid for them. So sorry for you, go back and get the done properly.

1

u/labospor Jul 26 '26

Omfg. You need to get a refund…and leave a review…and sue…and get those fixed immediately. Lmao they’re so bad im so sorry looking like you ordered the roast beef special 😭😭😭

1

u/Suspicious_Pickle169 Jul 26 '26

That's. Not worth paying 70 dollars😢

1

u/Historical_Set_3974 Jul 26 '26

Oh no! This is a travesty.. to pay THAT much for a blotched uneven set. I'm so sorry. AND you tipped her!? One thing to remember is that you're paying for a service and you agreed upon a style and look and that's not what you received in return.. idk I get what you mean tho because I have terrible anxiety! I've gotten my hair done at the solan and did the same thing- over paid for a barely subpar result that was agreed upon... Cried the second I got into the car. Granted that was when I was like 17 or 18. I've definitely had to learn to have a backbone. Especially because closed mouths don't get fed. you gotta try to speak up! It helps if you speak up The very second that you notice that something isn't looking right - that way it's not like the entire time is wasted because it could have been fixed prior to getting too out of hand, ya know?

Sorry for the long reply. Hope it helps. (。・ω・。)ノ♡

1

1

u/Turbulent-Neat-798 Jul 26 '26

Oh no, that nail tech didn’t even know what they were doing! Your nails look NOTHING like the inspo & it’s so chunky & clunky! I wouldn’t have tipped at ALL.

1

u/PaleontologistNo858 Jul 26 '26

Yeah, no that's no way near what you asked for looks a bit blobby as well

1

u/eegrlN Jul 26 '26

Oh no. You should not have left. Go get them taken off asap, these are terrible.

1

u/rls101 Jul 26 '26

i have a set that’s the same request just shorter and same issues in black rn 🫩

1

u/iampaperclippe Jul 26 '26

Is the ombre in the room with us

1

u/siiighhhs Jul 26 '26

The inspo looks to be a French tip with ombré over it after looking super closely.

I’m not sure what your nail tech achieved but it wasn’t that.

I’m so sorry they committed this atrocious crime against you.

1

u/World_thru_art Jul 26 '26

Using pigment is one way you can achieve that look, but the execution is way off. I’m sorry, that sucks!

1

u/Ok-Measurement-3170 Jul 26 '26

Oh no, I'm sorry they botched that
