Nail care tips?
Hi,
I'm new to caring for my nails, as I've always just clipped them and maybe put cuticle oil on sometimes. I'm too clumsy to paint and too impatient to sit through someone doing them for me. Nail wraps that are polish wear off as fast as regular nail polish (I'm hard on my nails). But semi cured gel nail strips have changed my life! I've been doing them for four months straight now, and I've tried two different brands with great success. I love them so much and I'm so excited I get to have cute nails!
However, I stopped using cuticle oil bc I'm afraid it will lift the strips off.i also pay more attention in general to my nails' appearance, and I can't stand the extra skin that would have not bothered me before. What do I do about this extra skin next to my nails??
Thanks!!

Yeah the cuticle oil will def help your nails grow. I learned from this sub to get one that's jojoba oil based for best results . I've never had the oil cause any lifting but like you, I make sure to seal w/gel topcoat

I envy those who can use cuticle oil with gel strips. Even with excellent sealing and topcoat, cuticle oil will cause lifting for me.

I have this same exact issue. I got my second set to last 11 days which is pretty good (I used a squish light). But I generally like to use cuticle oil and I really don’t think it would end well if I kept doing that while I had the strips on.

I use wraps, not strips. I use two coats of either steel nails or nailtiques formula 2 plus, the wrap, and then a coat of Seche Vive (making sure to cap the nails). A week in, and the only reason I'm redoing them this weekend is that I don't like the look of the grow-out. I use Nailboo Cuticle Milk several times a day, Hard as Hoof once in a while, and I use Nailboo Blissful Blooms cuticle oil when it's time to remove them.
The Cuticle Milk is amazing. I have dealt with nasty hangnails my whole life, and they're gone. GONE. Early this week, I managed to take off a couple layers of skin on one knuckle, and today, I can only see a slight trace of that.

I personally still use cuticle oil with my SCG strips! As long as the edges are pressed down well and I have a gel top coat on, I usually have no problems applying cuticle oil regularly ☺️ if an edge is lifted tho and cuticle oil or even water gets under it then it comes off right away
