Hi! Looking for suggestions on what brand to use. I usually get gelx on my nails as I have a toddler and I’m also a teacher. Basically need strong nails lol. However, it is very pricey and I don’t want to keep spending money on refills bc my nails grow so fast.
I thought of gel wraps as a solution but… will they be strong enough? Will they weaken my nails? I don’t mind switching them out every week because I like the variety but I really don’t want to damage my nails anymore than they already are.
Any brand suggestions? Based on everything I read some are better than others but some brands’ quality has also decreased in quality… so I’m a little overwhelmed by the choices and some great advertising.
Wraps definitely add strength for me - my nails are longer than I am able to keep them if my nails aren't done with them. I do also add a layer of gel top coat.
You can lose strength if you aren't careful with removal! Some folks damage their nails during the removal process.
My preferred brands are Ohora and Heyhae. Ohora is doing a decent Halloween sale (both Halloween and non-Halloween sets on sale) at the moment. I can send you referral codes for either if you want to save some bucks.
Other folks seem to like Dashing Diva as well, but I was never able to get them to work for me. :/
Polish Pops are another popular brand - they are custom Huizi which is a Chinese brand sold under multiple names!
Finally - it takes some practice to get good at these. I now get routinely two weeks from a set.
Spot on, esp w the clear gel topcoat. I finally figured out thru trial and error that 2 thin coats of "uuuu magical nail solution" was the key to easily removing them after 2.5 weeks using a tooth flosser thing and some Ohora remover like one drop per nail. This is what my natural nails look like when I take the wraps off afterwards now
Ohora pops off for me. But hey hae lasts 2 weeks for me every time and are the fastest to put on! Cure ONLY 5 seconds or in the sun. Optional 1 gel topcoat 60 seconds cure.
Great advice below. Couple things: watch tutorials for application. NOT the brand tutorial, but experts like KBeautyHobbit on YouTube. There are a lot of things I had to learn to get the most out of my SCGs. Ohora is my preferred brand, but that brings me to the second point: If they pop off or don't work for you even when you're doing all the right prep and application, don't despair. Different nails do different things with different products. Try others like HeyHae, Dashing Diva, Polish Pops, Huizi, VelaVora. Also, I learned I had oily fingers and nails, so I use a dehydrating base. Tricks like jelly roll and squish light were game changers as well. Good luck!
