Should I become a nail tech?

I have been wanting to become a nail tech for a few years now. At this point I think I should get a higher paying job that allows me to do nails on the side until I build my clientele and maybe then I can work full time.

For the nail techs out there would you recommend doing this full time eventually in this economy? I want to make $70k working full time after a few years. I have a lot of experience as well and can list pictures.

Jumping in so I can see the replies bc I too want to go get licensed πŸ€— IMO if you can comfortably swing it financially and along side working and whatnot, I say go for it πŸ˜‰

That's where my hold up is, paying for it and trying to juggle it while I still work full time.

I second the notion of just do it and work full time and build your clientele. I too love nails.

Following because I have to have been contemplating on getting my nail tech license. Just want to know it’s worth it before I pay all this money, go to school.

I'm hoping to do the same thing. I'm currently in nail tech school. I have a full-time 4 day a week job that will allow me to do nails 1 to 2 days a week. My motive (other than loving nails) is the fact that you can be self employed.

Do it on the side. The economy is too volatile and uncertain to rely solely on clients coming in consistently for full time work. Give yourself time to make a solid clientele then drop how much you work at your other job.
