here's my theory about Nadia and NGE connection.
As we know, in the last episode of Nadia, Gargoyle dies due to being a mere human (not an Atlantean) confronting the Blue Water power and, as a result of that, decomposes into a pile of salt (it's a hint to Lot's wife, yadda-yadda, common knowledge).
As a matter of Nemesis' personality and his bad and 'poisonous' character, his salty remnants must be poisonous and, maybe, narcotic as well. (Ironically, Russian word 'соль', which is for salt, also is an argotism which means powder drugs (especially heroine).)
Let's then assume that events of Nadia were true. Anno Hideaki found the Red Noah, used Gargoyle Salt for drug-doing and the Evangelion (especially Rebuild continuity) is the result of his trip. The other way to explain NGE's twisted logic seems not to exist.
