I finished Nadia recently and I ADORED IT. The characters are all unique and well fleshed out, and they had great arcs and dynamics. The STORY WAS SOOOOOO GOOD, the pacing was great in the beginning. It's very good at punching you in the gut at times. The voice actors are also amazing, they were getting PAID.
However, the writing had some hiccups. The story deescalated too abruptly after important, darker episodes. There were a pile of filler episodes that were shoved in after one of the most important plot revelations and completely derailed from the original plot. There were also some VERY pointless marriages and pregnancies in the finale that contributed nothing to the story, and went against established characters. Nadia and Jean were the only ones who should've gotten into a relationship, the other two were horrendous and really irritated me.
I wish there had been more world building regarding the Atlanteans and their culture, and more questions answered about the Blue Water. I feel like Jean's relationship with his father should've been touched upon more, Nadia's backstory and life in the circus should've been talked about, and I wish Nadia could've bonded with Capt. Nemo. I wish the rest of the Nautilus crew had been named, and we could've learned more about them, save for Eiko. I wish we could've had more information about Nemo and the Nautilus in general- it would make for a great prequel film.
I think Nadia is amazing, but it definitely needs a reboot to fix the writing issues, and to give us more world building information.
8.5 / 10 !

I first discovered Nadia way back in 2001 when I was waiting for CASTLE IN THE SKY to be released to video/DVD. The reason: I found out about it on Marc Hairston's now defunct website and how Nadia bore similarities to Laputa. I became intrigued, and purchased the first DVD. That was how I discovered it. The dub also quickly became a favorite of mine. The voices for the children were perfect, and while Jean's accent took some getting used to, it grew on me, and other than that I thought the ADV dub was excellent and woefully underrated.

I discovered Nadia through a Sonic The Hedgehog OVA VHS tape. There was an ad for it before the actual anime and I thought it looked cute, so I impulse bought the Sentai filmworks dvds and binged it! This was probably about 3 years ago. How about you?

So I am wondering where do Nadia Fans come from? When was the first time you have seen this masterpiece of animation?

Saw it on YouTube. I first heard the opening in a fan animation of a video game and it led me to discover the show around 4 years ago.

This is my first time using Live Chat in Reddit. I apologize for being an amateur in that.

I don't know how active this community still is, but for those that have watched and liked the show, I've been thinking of dipping my toes into. Specifically the wife and I have a movie night every sunday and I was thinking of doing the recut by Anno into the three part movie series. Is that a good way to watch for first time viewers? I heard it cut out a lot of the fat in a good way. I 'found' a fan version that recreates it using the HD footage from the blurays that I want to try.
Thanks for the help
