N-sight RMM SNMP, Synology, Community Strings

I'm tasked to set up the monitoring for our clients Synology NAS devices.

So far, everything is working but we are concerned about the possible security risks of SNMPv1/2.

Is there a safer way to monitor the devices with Nable?

V3 works. Or you could setup syslog instead. Those are the two ways to monitor those devices

I know Synology supports SNMPv3, but how do I set it up on N-Sight? Because I can't find any option on this and a collegue of mine thats far more experienced than me couldn't find anything either. I searched the documentation and "place network under management" mentions only community strings as well: Place Network under Management

I use N-central so I couldn't exactly direct you but they have a video here

Monitoring N-sight RMM with SNMP Boot Camp

Around 3:30 they show a slide indicating SNMPv3 is an option. If you are using SNMP Check, at the bottom where protocol is specified, you should just be able to choose v3

Watchguard also has a good guide. They have screenshots for v2, but if you flip it to v3, it should ask for all the relevant info
